Position at JBS Carriers, Inc.


Purpose & Scope:


The Fleet Manager is responsible for managing a fleet of trucks and drivers dedicated to servicing one or a few JBS Carriers customers. This role includes managing the relationship with the customer(s), evaluating and accepting loads, properly scheduling the pickup and delivery appointments, planning the loads on the right trucks and drivers, dispatching the loads and communicating all necessary load information to the drivers, tracking the trucks and drivers, and managing the fleet for 100% on-time delivery of all loads.


Principle Responsibilities:


  • Manage a defined group of drivers which includes, but is not limited to, working with them on a one-on-one basis as part of a process of getting to know their individual wants, needs and goals, both personal and professional


  • Work with drivers to comply effectively with the company‚Äôs fuel optimization program


  • Be the first point of contact for their assigned drivers regardless of the issue


  • Foster and maintain effective working relationships with Safety, Maintenance, Payroll and Accounting department personnel in order to solve problems on every front


  • Monitor the miles of each individual driver within their assigned fleet and work with Load Planners to ensure maximum utilization is being achieved


  • Monitor driver hours of service to assure compliance with state and federal law and to assist Load Planners in optimal utilization of available hours of service


  • Promote a culture of safety among the members of their driver group


  • Promote a culture of customer service among the members of their driver group

Working Conditions: General Office Environment


Requirements: Education: High School Diploma or G.E.D.


Experience: Desirable to have at least (1) year of transportation experience


Special Skills:


  • Must be able to work in a fast paced environment, and while being able to prioritize


  • Strong verbal and writer communication skills


  • Proficient in MS Office, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint


  • Experience with TMW and QualComm software systems


  • Understand and apply compliance with state and federal hours of services laws and to assist Load Planners in optimal utilization of available hours of service


    Relationships:


    Internal: Manage driver group. Work closely with accounting, safety, payroll and maintenance. Operate with the Load Planning department. We are an Equal Opportunity Employer
