Basic Purpose


To assist the Manager, Mortgage Production and AVPs HQs and Pensacola in Real Estate Lending with all duties and activities associated with facilitating mortgage loan origination, processing, closing, mortgage support and administration. Manage and oversee the operational activities and staff of a very large and distinct geographicarea, e.g., Herndon, VA and focus, e.g., FHA loans. Help establish and implement performance standards relating toproductivity and quality and provide input for short and long range strategic and operational planning. Recommend operational improvements and develop/implement and communicate new/changes to loan programs and products. Provide guidanceand ensure compliance with established Navy Federal, NCUA, and CFPB policies and procedures and laws and regulations(e.g., RESPA, TIL, ECOA) applicable to real estate lending.Responsibilities• Manage a large geographic and specialized area of first mortgage loan production operations ranging from loan application through closing• Ensure the quality of credit decisions for all team members on all loan products with automated underwriting systems• Ensure First Mortgage objectives, production goals, standards, and strategies are executed and align with division priorities• Monitor daily production reports and staff work volume; adjust assignments to meet fluctuating workload• Develop, recommend and document adjustments to workflow to streamline processes• Establish positive work environment, open communication and accountability; resolve technical or resource issues• Monitor work environment and direct allocation of resources to ensure adequate staffing to meet production and member service standards• Involved in driving continuous process improvement to increase member experience quality; reduce losses; minimize financial risk and maintain high operational efficiency• Remain alert to threats to loan security, fraudulent applications, and other questionable practices that may negatively impact the quality of the loan portfolio• Monitor and respond to member inquiries received via various media channels• Review and adjust workload; oversee staff availability throughout the day to ensure member service standards are met• Monitor mortgage loan process and ensure compliance with Federal laws, as well as, Navy Federal, NCUA and secondary market practices, guidelines and regulations• Lead and coordinate the planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resourcing of projects to scope, identify risk exposure and remediation of non-compliance to standards• Support all CFPB and regulatory initiatives and activities to ensure compliance• Utilize reports and analytics to manage all aspects of the operation through matrix management• Stay informed of business environment, financial services and associated trends to ensure competitive business conditions and newest developments are incorporated• Serve as mentor/trainer and provide guidance and assistance to team members• Perform supervisory/managerial responsibilitieso Ensure adequate/skilled staffing; select employeeso Establish performance goals and prioritieso Prepare, conduct and review performance appraisalso Develop, mentor and counsel staffo Provide input and/or prepare budget requirements for Annual Financial Plan (AFP)o Ensure section/branch goals and objectives align with division/department strategyo Ensure efficiency of operations• Act as supervisor/manager in the incumbent's absence• Performs other duties as assigned or appropriateQualifications – All required unless otherwise notedIf selected, will be required, prior to the assumption of employment duties, to register with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry; includes fingerprinting and background checks• Advanced knowledge of conventional, FHA, VA loans & RESPA guidelines• Advanced knowledge of Navy Federal mortgage products, services, programs, policies and procedures• Advanced knowledge of Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and relevant mortgage investor guidelines• Significant experience in compliance analysis• Advanced skill applying lending principles, financial practices and evaluation of creditworthiness to make credit decisions• Advanced organizational, planning and time management skills• Advanced skill exercising initiative and using good judgment to make sound decisions• Advanced verbal and written communication skills• Advanced skill interpreting, applying and explaining written and oral regulations, instructions, products and procedures in English• Effective word processing and spreadsheet software skills• Significant experience in leading, guiding and mentoring others• Desired – Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics and/or Business Administration• Desired – Working knowledge of Navy Federal products, services, programs, policies and proceduresHours: Monday-Friday 8:30 AM- 5:00 PMThis position will be located in MiltonAddress: 5510 Industrial Blvd.Milton, FL 32583
