Job Description:

The Assistant Director for First Year Residential Education/Residence Director is a 12 month full-time live-in staff member of the Student Affairs Division reporting to the Director of Residential Life and Housing. This staff member is responsible for establishing and maintaining a community that promotes the educational, cultural, social, and personal development of first year students. This is a live in position with responsibility for one residential complex and night and weekend on call service.

Responsibilities include planning and execution of a broad array of first year programs based upon clearly developed first year learning outcomes. The staff member is responsible for planning all aspects of the residential orientation and opening weekend activities and transition for new residential students in Utica. This position provides support to the development of the first year residential program and orientation on the Albany campus, in addition to the Utica Campus. If qualified with a master's degree, this position includes teaching of First Year Seminar. Evening and weekend responsibilities are an essential component of the position.

Bachelor's Degree required from a college or university accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized organization. The ability to manage a variety of projects and responsibilities, experience in diverse populations, excellent organizational and time management skills, and the ability to work independently are a must.
