Job Description:


Hewlett Packard Enterprise is seeking a highly motivated Software Networking Engineer to work in the Palo Alto, CA office. This individual will design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for software enhancements and new products in support of the NonStop Networking programs.

Responsibilities:


  • Participate on a project team of highly experienced engineers involved in the development of our next generation networking software using C/C++ and Python.


  • Designs, codes and programs enhancements, updates, and changes for portions and subsystems of the NonStop networking software suite.


  • Develops understanding of and relationship with internal and outsourced development partners on Linux Kernel design and development.


  • Conceptualize ideas, target research and rapid prototyping to determine feasibility, evaluate risks, and create well-thought-out designs and implementation.


  • Participates in all phases of the product development cycle, from definition, design, through implementation and test. to develop reliable, cost effective and high quality solutions for industry leading networking products.


  • Drives innovation and integration of new technologies into projects and activities in the software systems design organization.


  • Provides guidance and mentoring to less- experienced staff members.

Education and Experience Required:


  • BS in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, with at least 7+ years of experience in software design and development. MS degree preferred

Required Knowledge and Skills:


  • Strong C/C++ programming experience and strong scripting skills with bash or python required


  • 5+ years expertise in Ethernet, TCP/IP, and routing protocols.


  • 5+ years expertise in socket programming.


  • Experience with protocol analysis, network analysers, packet capture devices, or Wireshark


  • Good working knowledge of virtualization and cloud architectures and technologies like QEMU/KVM/libvert


  • Experience programming in a Linux environment is required. Debian Experience is preferred.


  • Experience working in an Agile team.


  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact with customers and team members, communicating with both technical and non-technical audiences.

The following will be considered a strong advantage:


  • Good technical knowledge of OpenStack as Virtual Infrastructure Management platform or VMware vCloud.


  • Experience in Linux Kernel development.


  • Understanding of Operating system concepts and System fabric Messaging concepts.


  • Jenkins and DevOps experience.


  • NFV/DPDK experience.


  • Familiarity with working on VLAN/VXLANs and programming with RDMA Verbs.
