Position Summary:

Job Purpose:

The Risk and Data Analyst is responsible for partnering with National Risk Control Team Leaders to leverage business intelligence and data analytics in the development of innovative client facing deliverables. The role will also lead the build out of business unit operational and financial stakeholder tools and reports. Client deliverables will be offered to both new Clients and renewing providing the appropriate service level in support of Gallagher CORE 360 TM with focus on strategy for services offered to our largest Clients. The candidate will need to possess strong business acumen, excellent technical, analytical, and communication skills to partner with cross-functional teams and provide data-driven analytics and communicate business insights to enhance the risk management and insurance results and enable timely decision making.

Ultimately, CORE 360 TM helps our Clients and Prospects make more informed insurance, financial and risk transfer decisions, differentiates Gallagher from our competitors, and drives organic growth for Gallagher Global Broking.

The Risk Analysts Primary Areas of Focus:

  • Support client risk management and organizational business and financial objectives with proven data analytical skills and business experience

  • Management information and operational protocols and tool development to operate insurance brokerage and Loss Control and Claim business units

  • Lead, develop & mentor team members with highest level of accountability for projects and services; build teams focus to achieve business unit and client risk improvement objectives

  • Utilize, create tools, templates and platforms using Risk Management Information Systems and home-grown data management platforms

  • Build and maintain excellent relationships with clients, colleagues and business markets

  • Think alternatively and analytically to provide clients with strategic solutions

  • Provide counsel and advise on data results with diverse business interests and exposures across niche segments

  • Provide recommendations and strategic resolutions using quantitative and qualitative analysis

  • Link and validate multiple data sources through conversion, consolidation and normalization and develop high quality client facing deliverables in support of CORE 360 TM Loss Control & Claims client engagements

Main Accountabilities

  • Ability to digest, interpret and analyze client/prospect loss information through financial/actuarial data analysis tools, along with an understanding of each clients’ insurance program structure and business objectives

  • Manage requests from Account Teams and Producers to provide a variety of risk and financial analysis reports using and applying insurance industry principles

  • Ability to manage and prioritize work assignments, set priorities, and measure volume and type of project requests

  • Review audit information and data analysis to identify and share actionable insights with clients and prospects insurance program structures

  • Utilize internal resources for data collection and project management and oversight of data heavy or carrier interactive project requests

  • Build project-specific instructions and risk management parameters for analytics reports

  • Work with department team members to assess risk, set strategy, and evaluate financial success, and prepare reports and analytics findings for Clients

  • Ability to communicate the value of data driven results in support of sales teams

  • Ability to collaborate and interact with carriers, TPAs, and both internal and external Clients

  • Interact with carrier on behalf of Clients to demonstrate data analysis, advocate findings and improve client financial outlook on premium, collateral, and other financial considerations for their insurance program

  • Provide internal training to enhance knowledge and understanding of data analytics

  • Prepare educational material about substantive benefits of analytics projects to assist National Risk Control Leaders, Account Teams participants to prepare analytics presentations to our Clients

  • Ability to prepare reports and presentations for Client meetings on larger, more complex analytic studies

  • Participate in RFP, RFI, sales presentations, and internal training

Additional Considerations:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science or a similar quantitative field

  • Fluency in English

  • Hands-on technical skills (e.g. MS Office Suite, SharePoint , Excel Expertise)

  • Excellent technical, communication and organizational skills

  • Experience with and strong understanding of data structures

  • Knowledge and experience with programming languages

  • Actuarial and Statistical analyses work including pricing, exposure management and rating engine developments

  • Experience with business intelligence platforms.

  • 7 years of relevant business experience

  • 7 years of relevant work experience working in an insurance carrier or insurance brokerage environment
