Job Description:

To provide physical therapy treatment to all patients referred by the Physical Therapist according to the Plan of Care established by the Physical Therapist. To maintain effective communication with the PT, center staff, patient, families and other customers.Essential Skill/Knowledge Functions:Assists in the execution of treatments to patients as prescribed by the evaluating therapist and physicianAssists Physical Therapist in the compilation of the Plan of Care, according to State Practice ActsProvides documentation as required by regulatory agencies and fiscal intermediaries in a timely and clinically meaningful manner.Communicates patient status and program needs to supervising Physical Therapist timelyAssists in educating health care center staff regarding patient status, therapy interventions, and other Physical Therapy servicesSubmits billing, payroll and other expense documentation correctly and in a timely mannerAttends patient care team conferences and other meetings as requestedKnowledgeable of individual State Practice Acts as relates to supervision by Physical TherapistEssential Administrative Functions:Participate in center/agency surveys (Licensure / JCAHO) and any subsequently required reports.Attend and participate in continuing educational programs to keep abreast of changes in your field as well as to maintain current license/certification, as required.Attend and participate in mandatory ins-ervices.Honor patients/residents’ rights to fair and equitable treatment, self-determination, individuality, privacy, property and civil rights, including the right to wage complaints.Comply with corporate compliance program.Report job-related functions/tasks that involve occupational hazards including exposure to blood and body fluids and others as necessary.Follow established safety regulations, to include fire protection & prevention, smoking regulations, infection control, etc.Follow established safety procedures when performing tasks and/or working with equipment.Perform other related duties as necessary and as directed by supervisor.

Licensure/Certification/Education Requirements:Valid professional license in State where practicing.Graduate of a CAPTE accredited educational program. If foreign trained, graduate from an education program determined to be substantially equivalent to physical therapy assistant entry level education in the U.S. by a credentials evaluation organization approved by the APTAFreedom from illegal drug use. Freedom from use and effects of drugs and alcohol in the workplace. Persons who have been found guilty by a court of law of abusing, neglecting or mistreating individual in a health care setting are ineligible for employment in this position.Other Training, Skills, and Experience Requirements:Must be able to speak, read and write the English language.Prior long term care experience preferable.Summary of Occupational Exposures:Tasks assigned to this position may involve potential and/or direct exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious disease, air contaminants, and hazardous chemicals.
