Responsibilities


The Tool Development Engineer - Senior is responsible for building and managing all the tools used to develop and qualify systems and features. The Tool Development Engineer - Senior works closely with the internal stakeholders and suppliers to document requirements and specifications, source and manage supplier tool development, and deliver and maintain finished tools.


Responsibilities include, but not limited to:


  • Builds robust and scalable telematics test tools that increase product quality and shorten development cycle, including but not limited to: connected services simulators, radio head unit applications testing tools, web application testing tools, server testing tools, and test automation tools


  • Analyzes, designs, and develops test tool frameworks and test automation framework


  • Establishes test strategies and processes, reviews requirements with development and qualification teams


  • Creates and maintains test cases and test scripts


  • Writes test tool user guides and provides necessary training to user community


  • Manages tool supplier sourcing and development at tool suppliers


  • Writes management reports and review documentation

Qualifications


  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from ABET-accredited programs


  • 2+ years of work experience in connected services


  • 5+ years of work experience in test tool development/management


  • Knowledge of connected services data flow and system architecture


  • Testing / qualification experience, including test case and test script development


  • Test tool development/management experience


  • Knowledge of SoupUI and REST API


  • Fluent communication skills (written and verbal)


  • Demonstrated ability to execute initiatives; team player

Preferred Qualifications


  • Master of Science in Engineering


  • Automotive telematics domain experience


  • Programming in command line language and shell scripts


  • Remote shell; Telnet/SSH/Serial (PuTTY or other)


  • Good understanding of vehicle CAN communication


  • Experience in Vehicle Spy/CANoe or other CAN simulators


  • Experience in defect/issue tracking/management systems

Travel


  • Will be required to drive a company car.


  • Valid driver’s license is required as well as a clean driving record.


  • Will be required to travel domestically up to 5%.
