This role over sees new nurses that are brought into Banner Health; helps with onboaridng and managing them in their first clinical role as RN's. Job Summary


This position provides leadership, managerial, and clinical support to the Banner Staffing clinical staff and supports in the management of daily operations for the department. Primary responsibilities include daily performance of clinical support staff for an assigned functional area within a region, facility, or other business entity. Areas of responsibility include and not limited to RNs, CNAs, BHTS, etc. Demonstrates clinical expertise of the assigned area. Provides leadership in clinical, financial, and personnel management within the department. Responsible for staff competencies. Has responsibility for the provision of high quality, safe and cost effective patient care, environmental control and customer service.


Essential Functions


  • Supervises clinical support staff. Conducts hiring, performance reviews, counseling/disciplinary action and termination of assigned staff as well as supports efforts to control staff turnover. Provides overall management of non-clinical support staff which may include but is not limited to: specialized processes, payroll, credentialing, licensing, human resources, HIPAA, OHSA and all staff and Federal compliance.


  • Supervises the work of assigned staff to ensure smooth work flow in the department. Acts as a knowledge resource to staff in matters of department processes, technical skills, equipment, supplies and/or regulatory requirements.


  • Acts as a liaison between facilities and BSS staff in complex or sensitive cases when necessary to ensure effective resolutions. Manage any human resources/personnel issues. Acts as a mentor and coach and provides development and growth opportunities for staff. In collaboration with other department leaders, assists in oversight of ongoing daily operations.


  • Develops customer/client relationships with facilities and works with them to ensure an excellent BSS experience that starts with 1st contact, continues through the application, interview, sourcing, offer, orientation, evaluation processes and re-cycles with the next assignment under supervisor of direct leader.


  • Actively participates on various committees to address staffing and recruitment issues. Acts as a resource, providing valuable statistical information to be used by committee members to facilitate informed decision-making.


  • Assesses assigned BSS workforce needs and makes recommendations to address. Maintains regular contact with direct leadership to ensure a current knowledge of related opportunities and to ensure urgent needs are being filled in collaboration with human resources/recruitment.


  • Researches and recommends changes and improvements with a primary focus on patient and operational outcomes. Identifies, addresses and communicates opportunities to manage and improve work processes and enable achievement of goals in quality, productivity and customer satisfaction. Maintains statistics and reports on activity in areas of responsibility when required. Coordinates and participates in special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications


Must possess a strong knowledge and understanding of healthcare management as normally obtained through the completion a bachelors degree in nursing or related field.


Requires a current RN license in state of practice. Additional certification or continuing education may be required based on area of practice.


Must possess at least 3-5 years of clinical experience relevant to patient care. Demonstrates knowledge and skills in patient care delivery including professional and quality care standards. Must be proficient and have working knowledge in area of serviceRequires ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision and to work independently. Must demonstrate excellent organizational skills, human relations, team building analytics, effective communication skills and working relationships with staff, physicians, leaders, and/or patients and families. Must possess the ability to interact well across departments, facilities and organizations. Requires the ability to negotiate conflict with process improvement and creative solution/problem solving.


Must be familiar with commonly used office software and/or have the ability to learn new software applications if necessary. Advanced administrative support experience using computers, word processing, spreadsheet and database software required.


Preferred Qualifications


Prior supervisory experience is preferred typically achieved in 2-3 years of team lead roles and/or employee supervision preferably in a healthcare setting.


Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
