JMT is seeking a Construction Manager to act as the owner’s agent in support of a federal contract to replace and existing roof and repair windows at the Pullman Administrative Building site in Chicago, IL. The 6 month project includes removing and replacing existing shingles and underlayment from the sloped roof areas, including the steeple of the Administration Building. The sheet metal flashing will be salvaged and replaced where damaged. New underlayment and shingles will be installed with the salvaged or new flashing. The new roof and flashing will be tied into the existing flat modified bitumen roof that is over the central area of the building. The existing mahogany windows will be re-caulked and storm windows will be installed on the exterior side of the first floor existing windows on the north, west, and south sides of the building. New aluminum windows with insulated glazing, both fixed and double-hung, will be installed in the locations of the boarded up window openings on the first, second, and third floors.

The Construction Manager will be responsible for coordinating the contractor’s construction efforts working closely with the owner’s contract representatives. This is a Full-Time position for the 6 month project duration located in Chicago, IL.

Required Skills

Education and professional qualifications related to construction, architecture and engineering.

Osha 30 Certification

Required Experience

Demonstrated knowledge and experience with best construction practices associated with similar projects.

Prior experience working with Government Project Managers / CORs on processing change request, request for information, submittals and field observation reports.

Demonstrated experience in managing projects in a public setting with the ability to represent the interests of the government in a professional manner and ensure quality of work while maintaining good relationships with contractors.

Working Conditions:

May work in an environment that is extreme in nature such as heat, cold, heights, and dangerous equipment. May be exposed to varying levels of physical activities and physical extremes such as long periods of standing, walking, crouching, use of hands and heavy lifting of up to 50lbs or more.
