Position Description

This position can be located in the Houston, Texas; Lakewood, Colorado; or another Kinder Morgan corporate office.

  • Respond to and evaluate ESG Rating agencies scores, reports, and controversies

  • Manage ESG rankings, indexes, and rating schemes

  • Produce annual or semi-annual ESG report and manage review process

  • Document ESG report sections prepared to department standards to meet internal requirements.

  • Review ESG report sections prepared by others to meet SASB, GRI, or CDP standards

  • Create, implement, and oversee ESG policies, processes, and IT systems

  • Collaborate with company Technical Work Groups and other groups/departments (e.g. Investor Relations, Human Resources, Procurement and Administration, and Corporate Communications) to: review ESG report discussion & analysis and metrics, work through updates to current policies, processes, and systems, and create new policies, processes, and systems as needed.

  • Manage GHG emissions reporting contractors to develop companywide GHG Scope 1 and 2 emissions inventory and systems for reporting

  • Update systems and create internal reports to manage ESG data on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis

  • Coordinate and interface with external auditors during assurance and assurance-readiness, Lead effort to address deficiencies or recommendations identified

  • Stay up to date on changes to ESG standards and guidelines (e.g. SASB, TCFD,CERES)

  • Respond to investor and lender information requests

  • Prepare bid documents for necessary ESG projects, e.g. companywide Scope 1 and 2 GHG emission inventory

  • Manage ESG Budget

  • Develop case studies and examples to demonstrate how the company puts actions towards our policies

  • Update and so company ESG information is accessible to public

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in science, engineering or related field from an accredited school

  • Proficiency in Microsoft office applications including Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook

Position Requirements

Job Requirements

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to effectively influence all levels of management, as well as the ability to work effectively with environmental, social, and governance ratings agencies.

  • Possess a strong knowledge of environmental and safety regulations and their relevance to pipeline, processing, and storage operations and assets.

  • Establish performance goals for staff, coach performance, provide training and evaluate performance, including taking disciplinary action when necessary

  • Well-developed organizational skills including the ability to manage several projects at once.

  • Ability to identify stakeholder needs and develop working relationships, consensus and highly functional teams.

  • Strong leadership skills including influencing, interpersonal, listening and motivational skills that will include working with people with a variety of disciplines, experience, and backgrounds.

  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision.

  • Travel is required and is anticipated to be 25 to 30% annually.

  • Satisfactory driving record as determined by the Company and a valid state driver license.

  • Exhibit high regard for ethics and personal safety, safety of company assets and employees, and the general public.

  • Must be able to work with a team, take direction from supervisor, adhere to work schedules, focus on details, and follow work rules.

Preferred Experience, Skills, and Knowledge

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in ESG reporting and management of company ESG rankings.

  • Knowledge of Kinder Morgan business unit operations.

  • Experience reporting under the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) standards.

  • Wdesk (Workiva) and IMPACT software experience.
