Job Description
Preferred location for this role is Boston, MA, New York, NY or Nashville, TN.
The Watson Health Biomedical Research Program Manager will be responsible for managing assigned data, technology and clinical research projects for a clinical decision support system, including developing and coordinating project teams as well as developing timelines and deliverables for evaluation studies and publications. Projects will encompass both formative and summative evaluations.
This Biomedical Research Program Manager has the following essential functions: including the overall management of projects, timelines and deliverables, project planning and forecasting
Provide executive support to evaluation design and oversight teams
Provide coordination and support for evaluation studies in both laboratory and naturalistic (real-world) settings, tracking progress and related efforts to support study activities
Manage project scope and sets expectations
Develop and implement a defined, documented, replicable and auditable research project management process
Establish key performance indicators for process effectiveness and improvement including timeliness, errors/defects, resource allocation, hours/units estimated versus used, and overall performance to budget, leadership satisfaction
Track and report progress against project milestones and deliverables to ensure effective scope, acceptable timing, maximum benefit and quality delivery
Identifies delivery risks and the opportunities to mitigate them
Support publication plans and deliverables, support dissemination activities.
- Provide executive support to data and evidence governance activities
Essential knowledge and skills:
Strong project organization, coordination, execution, collaboration and communication skills
Strong performance measurement, reporting and process improvement skills
Knowledge of biomedical and clinical research processes
Knowledge of health care delivery including work flows and settings, health outcomes and measurement, health IT, health economics, research publication processes
Knowledge of health data sources and data management
Skilled at managing and coordinating multiple high priority projects and tasks
- Skilled in developing and sustaining effective relationships at the team, executive and professional levels
Necessary experience:
Five or more years of experience working for a biomedical informatics, health informatics, clinical research enterprise or life science company
Broad understanding of most of the functions involved in the development of a biomedical informatics application such as clinical decision support, health informatics or life sciences product
Has strong business mindset and 3 or more years of industry experience outside of health care deliverypreferably IT or clinical research
Experience in collaborating with designers, developers and researchers using technology, data, and new care processes or models of care
Strong leadership, team building and people skills
Leader, visionary, consensus builder, innovative, effective, ethical
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
At least 5 years’ experience working in a life science company
At least 2 years’ experience working in senior clinical role in life sciences setting
- At least 2 years’ experience in business development/consultative sales around use of technology and workflow redesign in life sciences setting
Preferred Tech and Prof Experience
At least 2 years’ experience in medical practice post residency
At least 7 years’ experience working in a life science company
At least 4 years’ experience working in senior clinical role in life sciences setting
At least 3 years’ experience in industry outside of clinical setting
At least 4 years’ experience in business development/consultative sales around use of technology and workflow redesign in life sciences setting
- MS/MA in biomedical informatics or related health discipline desirable
