Primary Responsibilities:
- Receiving:
- Unload incoming shipments of merchandise from trucks or other transport vehicles.
- Verify the quantity and quality of received goods against packing slips, purchase orders, or invoices.
- Inspect products for damage, defects, or discrepancies and report any issues to the supervisor.
- Sign and acknowledge receipt of delivered goods.
- Stocking:
- Efficiently and accurately stock shelves, racks, or other designated storage areas with received merchandise.
- Organize and arrange products according to established procedures, ensuring proper rotation of stock and clear labeling.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of storage areas, promptly removing empty boxes, pallets, or other debris.
- Inventory:
- Assist in inventory control by counting and tracking stock levels.
- Report any discrepancies or shortages to the supervisor.
- May operate pallet jacks, forklifts, or other material handling equipment (with proper certification).
- May assist customers with locating products or answering inquiries.
- May perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or management.
- Physical ability: Must be able to lift, carry, and maneuver heavy boxes or merchandise (up to 50 lbs or more).
- Attention to detail: Accuracy is essential in verifying shipments and stocking shelves.
- Organizational skills: Maintaining a well-organized stockroom is crucial.
- Teamwork: Ability to work effectively with others in a fast-paced environment.
- Reliability: Punctuality and consistent attendance are expected.
- Previous experience in a warehouse or retail environment is preferred but not always required.
