Information Technology Senior Enterprise Application Administrator

Section 1 – Position Summary

The Senior Enterprise Applications Administrator supports the District’s portfolio of enterprise business applications. This position partners with business units to provide maintenance, support, and administration of mid to large scale applications. Creates and maintains documentation, research, and plans updates; reviews, analyzes, and documents best practices; and performs verification testing. This position also creates ad hoc reports for users and resolves customer issues by troubleshooting and correcting system issues. They will be self-directed learner with excellent communication skills and provide direction, training, and support to others.

Section 2 – Major Responsibilities

  • Performs project management on assigned projects in collaboration with the Business Analyst/Project Manager.
  • Provides ongoing direction, training and support to lower-level analysts and other internal staff.
  • Administers enterprise applications to support business needs; analyzes user requirements and defines specifications; plans, recommends, develops, tests, and implements solutions and enhancements.
  • Serves as a technical resource to system users and team, providing assistance and support of various enterprise applications; troubleshoots and/or resolves complex questions and problems; tracks and follows issues through to resolution, including communication with vendors and to all stakeholders.
  • Performs application configuration duties, including creating and managing application workflow and role-based access control.
  • Creates and maintains user accounts, including granting users the relevant roles they need to access required processes and data.
  • Evaluates, prioritizes, resolves, and documents defects.
  • Reviews current processes, hardware, and software to ensure resources are functioning properly and efficiently; validates technical specifications and infrastructure requirements.
  • Researches, communicates, and ensures upgrades, bundles, patches and fixes to existing hardware and software applications are completed.
  • Defines, creates, modifies, and tests electronic interfaces between multiple applications and/or systems.
  • Ensures appropriate security, data integrity and back-ups are in place.
  • Creates and executes unit test plans and test scripts; analyzes output, and ensures modifications are made as necessary to meet objectives. Maintains and revises testing documentation.
  • Creates and designs ad hoc reports and/or database applications customized to specific needs of department users.
  • Monitors system and user performances and recommends changes to improve efficiency.
  • Researches and learns new applications, technologies, and processes as they relate to the business needs.
  • Acts as subject matter expert on enterprise software, having a clear understanding of their capabilities and how they interact to identify additional integration opportunities.
  • Develops interactive, drillable, actionable client facing dashboards using visual analytics platforms.
  • Provides customer service by training end users in application usage and updates, assisting in the creation of reports, answering questions, troubleshooting, and resolving customer issues. Responds to questions and inquiries.
  • Monitors project progress and identifies potential risks or deviations from the plan.
  • Ensures that delivered solutions meet the specified requirements and are of high quality.
  • Performs research and gains insight into the technology landscape to recommend solutions that meet technology needs for the District.
  • Ensures that District data is protected by following Cybersecurity guidelines and requirements.
  • Communicates clearly and directly with employees to promote a collaborative work environment.
  • Provides management with written documentation as needed.
  • Audits user access for Administrative Directive compliance.
  • Carries out other such duties as may be assigned or requested.

Section 3 – Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Advanced knowledge of the following applications, ERP, EAM, collaboration software such as SharePoint, Power BI and Automate, Microsoft Teams, and Laserfiche.
  • Advanced knowledge of scripting languages such as SQL a plus, with current Microsoft SQL databases, SQL query development and report writing.
  • Knowledge of API technologies is a plus.
  • Requires excellent communication skills. Must be organized and have knowledge of project management.
  • Must exercise good judgment based upon established procedures and policies.
  • Research online or reading user manuals and creating end-user documentation.
  • Provide outstanding customer service and conflict resolution.
  • Must exercise good judgment based upon established procedures and policies.
  • Ability to understand and interpret complex laws, rules, regulations, policies, and guidelines.
  • Create, prepare, write, and proof reports, documents, and correspondence.
  • Work effectively in a high-pressure environment with changing priorities.
  • Effectively communicate in both oral and written format.

Section 4 – Education And Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration or a computer related field. Equivalent experience and education can be substituted.
  • Minimum 5 years’ proven experience in analytics, application development, data analysis and/or customer service.
  • Requires a valid Texas Driver’s License.

Section 5 – Environmental Factors, Activity Levels and Equipment

This position requires minimum physical exertion with daily lifting requirements of up to 50 pounds. Significant finger dexterity required. Activities may include carrying office materials, pulling, and pushing file drawers and organizing paperwork. Duties are almost always carried out in an office environment. Equipment used includes a Network Computer System and/or personal computer, various printers, calculators, copier, and telephone.
