Role Description
This is a part-time to full-time potential paid internship, on-site role for a Mechanical Engineering Intern at Barbee Testers in Reno, NV. The intern will be involved in day-to-day tasks related to mechanical engineering, computer-aided design (CAD), project management, and utilizing analytical skills for testing and designing custom test stands. Based on customer requirements and feedback, we want this role to use out-of-box thinking to manage designing and developing or even re-designing products for Barbee product lines.

Role Description

Job Tasks
- Design and develop prototypes.
- Analyze and test prototypes with a series of revisions.
- Prepare machining drawings with appropriate dimensions for off-site manufacturing.
- Collaborate with other teams to manage the product development through each stage.
- Hands-on experience with mechanical systems
- Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Experience with design software (e.g., SolidWorks) is a plus
- Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD)
- Export models/drawings for 3D printing and off-site machining
- Creative problem solving skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Knowledge of testing methodologies and instrumentation
- Ability to formulate and manage production timelines
- Strong Communication and Project Management skills
- Innovate and improve upon existing product designs
- Knowledge of wiring, soldering, general electro-mechanical and wiring understanding
- Experience using hand tools, power tools and heavy machines (lathe, mill, etc) a plus
