Allergy and Asthma Care of New York, part of Optum, has an immediate opening for a friendly, patient-focused, and detail-oriented Associate Patient Care Coordinator. This role includes completion of set processes and protocols, supporting the vision and mission of the organization, delivering excellent customer service, and adhering to Lean processes.

Schedule: Monday through Thursday with a 34 to 37.5-hour work week, between the hours of 10:00 am to 7:00 pm. Schedule may fluctuate.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Greets patients as they arrive and manage appropriate standard wait times
  • Complete check-in and check-out tasks including insurance verification
  • Collects co-payments, co-insurance, and deductibles and issues receipts
  • Processes walk-in patients and visitors
  • Answers phones and schedules appointments
  • Assists callers with questions or concerns, and takes messages as needed
  • Manages medical records (maintains, files/scans, prepares for schedule)
  • Prioritizes incoming calls
  • Ensures all correspondence is scanned and/or filed, processes requests for medical records release
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and providers
  • Schedules procedural appointments
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
  • 1+ years of receptionist or customer service experience in a healthcare setting
  • Intermediate level of computer proficiency (including Microsoft Outlook, Teams)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience as a receptionist in a healthcare setting
  • Knowledge of minimal medical terminology

Soft Skills:

  • Ability to work independently and as a team, maintaining good judgment and accountability
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with healthcare providers
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

The salary range for this role is $16.00 to $28.85 per hour based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
