Responsibilities And Duties

We are seeking a detail-oriented Smart Home Technology Prewire & Installation Technician to join our team. This role is responsible for prewiring residential and commercial job sites for smart home technology and completing installations as needed. The ideal candidate has experience with low-voltage wiring, home automation systems, and basic troubleshooting, with a strong focus on quality and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prewire new construction and retrofit projects for smart home technology, including audio, video, security, networking, and automation systems.
  • Install, configure, and test smart home devices, including control systems, lighting, surveillance cameras, Wi-Fi networks, and audio/video equipment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation to ensure accurate installation.
  • Pull and terminate low-voltage cabling, including Cat6, fiber optics, speaker wire, and coaxial cables.
  • Mount and install equipment such as TVs, projectors, speakers, smart thermostats, keypads, and networking gear.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to wiring, connectivity, and system functionality.
  • Work closely with project managers, electricians, and other trades to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Maintain a clean and organized worksite, following safety protocols and best practices.
  • Provide excellent customer service and education on system operation to homeowners and clients.


Qualifications & Skills:

  • Experience in low-voltage wiring, AV installation, or smart home technology preferred.
  • Knowledge of networking, IP configuration, and system integration is a plus.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow structured wiring plans.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Comfortable working in construction environments, including attics, crawl spaces, and ladders of at least 15’.
  • Strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work on-site.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
