Role of the Strategic Program Manager

NOTE: This position will be in the office at least 2 days a week.

Leads and oversees the execution of the company’s strategic plan, driving the successful delivery of cross-functional programs, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, managing key stakeholders, and tracking progress toward key objectives.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Develops and manages detailed program plans, timelines, and roadmaps for executing strategic goals, serving as the primary point of contact for all stakeholders, including senior leadership, department heads, and external partners.
  • Ensures alignment between strategic objectives (including defining and refining program goals and KPIs) and day-to-day operations, adjusting the approach as necessary.
  • Builds strong working relationships cross-functionally between departments such as operations, communications, finance, people and culture, IT and customer experience to ensure all teams are aligned with strategic priorities.
  • Identifies and resolves roadblocks in execution and drives solutions to keep the program on track.
  • Prepares and delivers presentations, including providing regular updates on program status, risks, and issues to senior leadership, the board of directors, and other stakeholders, ensuring clarity of execution and performance.
  • Identifies risks and dependencies that may affect the timely completion of programs and develops mitigation strategies.
  • Proactively addresses and resolves challenges, using data-driven decision-making to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Informs change management efforts to support the adoption of new processes or systems.
  • Implements program management best practices and monitors progress of strategic initiatives, ensuring milestones and deliverables are met.
  • Develops dashboards, analyzes results, and provides insights for continuous improvement.
  • Fosters a culture of accountability, ownership, process improvement, and performance excellence within program teams.
  • Employs a learning mindset to stay current on industry trends, technologies, and methodologies to continuously improve program strategy and execution.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A typical way to qualify is: 10+ years of experience in program or project management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role overseeing strategic programs.
  • Proven experience in managing large-scale, cross-functional programs, while meeting deadlines under pressure in a lean fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Experience setting up and using project management software i.e. MS Project, Planview PPM etc.
  • Organizational Change Management and business transformation experience.
  • Experience collaborating effectively with business, operations and tech teams to execute plans, implement technology and scale solutions.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making, and a focus on results and long-term impact.
  • Strong knowledge of business operations, financial management, and strategic planning processes.
  • Outstanding drive for results and sense of accountability for outcomes.
  • High level of emotional intelligence and the ability to navigate complex organizational dynamics.
  • Proactive, resilient, and adaptable in managing change and uncertainty.
  • Collaborative team player with a strong focus on achieving collective success.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) or Agile certification preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Management, Operations, or a related field preferred.
  • Possession of a high school diploma or GED required.
  • Valid driver's license required.
