The pay range is $131,000.00 - $236,000.00

Pay is based on several factors which vary based on position. These include labor markets and in some instances may include education, work experience and certifications. Indirect Planning plays a pivotal role in optimizing Target's indirect goods supply chain, ensuring critical infrastructure and operational assets are forecasted, sourced, and delivered efficiently. This includes high-impact categories such as refrigeration, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and infrastructure assets, among others. As a key leader in Procurement, your expertise will streamline planning processes, improve data-driven decision-making, and mitigate financial and operational risks, all while fostering a high-performing, inclusive team culture.

About You & The Role

As Director of Indirect Planning, you will oversee all aspects of the enterprise-wide demand planning process, ensuring the right quantity and timing of indirect goods to support Target’s operations. This requires a high level of cross-functional collaboration, leveraging supplier data, internal business insights, and predictive analytics to optimize supply availability and financial forecasting.

You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and enhancing demand planning processes, ensuring they are strategically aligned, scalable, and technology-enabled. You will lead a team of highly skilled planning professionals, equipping them with modern tools, advanced analytics, and emerging AI-driven forecasting techniques. Additionally, you will build supplier capacity planning models, strengthen risk management capabilities, and drive end-to-end visibility across indirect procurement categories.

Key Responsibilities

Lead Strategic Demand Planning & Category Alignment

• Drive enterprise-wide forecasting accuracy by leveraging data science, predictive analytics, and AI-driven tools.
• Establish a data-driven categorization framework, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and retail benchmarks.
• Optimize category structures and planning methodologies to enhance supplier collaboration and procurement effectiveness.
  
  

Enhance Supplier Capacity Planning & Risk Mitigation

• Develop supplier capacity planning models that enhance supply continuity and resilience.
• Drive risk management strategies to anticipate and mitigate supply disruptions.
• Foster supplier accountability, ensuring suppliers align with Target’s operational and financial goals.
  
  

Leverage Technology & Process Innovation

• Lead data transformation efforts, optimizing planning accuracy through AI, automation, and digital tools.
• Improve data integrity and reporting, ensuring real-time visibility into planned demand and supplier performance.
• Identify and implement cutting-edge planning technologies, positioning Target as an industry leader in demand forecasting.
  
  

Develop & Grow a High-Performing Team

• Cultivate a culture of inclusivity, development, and high performance within the Indirect Planning team.
• Provide mentorship, coaching, and career growth opportunities for emerging leaders in procurement planning.
• Drive cross-functional collaboration, ensuring seamless alignment with Sourcing, GSCL, Store Ops, Store Design, Property Management, and Construction teams.
  
  

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field; MBA preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in demand planning, strategic sourcing, procurement, or supply chain strategy.
• Proven leadership experience in leading large-scale planning operations, category management, or supplier strategy.
• Deep expertise in planning methodologies, predictive modeling, and emerging AI-driven forecasting tools.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify trends, optimize forecasting models, and drive data-informed decisions.
• Experience implementing enterprise-wide technology solutions, including AI-powered demand planning platforms and procurement analytics.
• Proven ability to build and maintain strategic relationships with senior internal stakeholders and key suppliers.
• Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence, mentor, and inspire high-performing teams.
• Ability to travel up to 10% per year and maintain a flexible work schedule around key negotiations and planning cycles.

This position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Target’s needs.
