A Controller in the folding carton industry plays a vital role in overseeing the financial operations of the company. This position involves managing accounting activities, ensuring financial accuracy, and providing strategic financial guidance. Below is an overview of the typical responsibilities and qualifications for this role:

Responsibilities:

  • Accounts Receivable Management: Oversee the entire accounts receivable process, including invoicing, payment collections, and account reconciliations.
  • Accounts Payable Management: Oversee the processing of vendor invoices, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
  • Human Resources: Oversee the recruitment process, including job postings, interviews, hiring decisions, and onboarding of new employees.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Develop and manage the company’s budget, including forecasting future financial performance and identifying potential risks and opportunities.
  • Cost Management: Analyze and control costs related to production, materials, and operations to maximize profitability.
  • Internal Controls: Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial records.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations, tax laws, and industry standards.
  • Audit Management: Coordinate and manage internal and external audits, addressing any findings and implementing recommendations.
  • Financial Analysis: Provide detailed financial analysis and reports to senior management to support strategic decision-making.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor accounting and finance staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
  • ERP Systems Management: Oversee the use and optimization of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems to enhance financial reporting and operational efficiency.
  • Strategic Planning: Participate in strategic planning initiatives, providing financial insights and projections to support long-term business goals.


Qualifications:

  • Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation preferred.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Experience in the manufacturing or packaging industry, particularly in folding carton, is highly desirable.
  • Skills:
  • Financial Acumen: Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and budgeting.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
  • ERP Proficiency: Experience with ERP systems and financial software.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Leadership: Strong leadership and team management skills.
