The ETL Team Lead is responsible for oversight, delivery of successful MDM implementations and daily management of both cross-functional and internal projects that involve designing and building enterprise data assets (on Informatica MDM and Azure Reference Layer) for the bank as well as operational discipline for execution.
The incumbent will oversee the IT team responsible for Design & Development of Data Integration Services supporting different components of MDM, and leveraging Azure cloud technologies to enhance the performance, scalability, and security of data platforms. The Business stakeholders include the Information Control Department (Chief Data Officer), Finance Controllers and Risk Management as well as other internal customers. The preferred candidate will demonstrate passion and expertise for leading strategic initiatives to standardize data and enable business analytic capabilities (including but not limited to required Risk & Regulatory Reporting for the Bank) as well as day-to-day operational execution responsibilities. As a Senior level contributor, must demonstrate strong communication and relationship building competencies. Strong Program and project management skills are also a key skill requirement. The position currently has 4 direct reports.
The ETL Team Lead reports to the Director of Data Management Design and Development within the Corporate Systems department.
This will require a hybrid on-site presence.
Role Objectives
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of MDM developers, data engineers, and analysts.
- Coordinate with stakeholders to gather requirements, define objectives, and ensure project milestones are met.
- Design and develop solutions on Informatica MDM cloud, including configuration, customization, and integration with enterprise systems.
- Ensure MDM solutions align with business requirements and industry best practices.
- Develop and implement tactical plans and strategic objectives for the data management department in an effective and innovative fashion.
- Ensure compliance with security, privacy, and regulatory requirements on the cloud.
- Monitor and resolve data discrepancies and quality issues.
- Collaborate with data stewards and business units to ensure compliance with governance standards.
- Apply strong Program/Project Management skills to turn the strategic vision into an actionable project and drive the project to conclusion.
- Provide high level technical support to IT partners, troubleshooting and providing fixes where required.
- Provide written reports to management regarding project status, tasks, and issues/risks.
- Actively participate in planning sessions and meetings, interfacing regularly with senior level counterparts across multiple business units.
- Maintain effective relationships with vendors and suppliers; resolve issues and maintain ongoing communication.
- Partner with CDO/CDA to create and execute the strategic Data Roadmap for the Bank, including standards and governance requirements for managing the environment in a strategic and consistent fashion.
- Look for continuous improvement opportunities through automation and simplification of all current activities.
- Ensure team member activities comply and are aligned with all strategic directives; provide guidance to more junior employees and serve as a team lead.
- Provide managerial direction and oversight to a multi-disciplinary team.
- Arrange proper support, coverage, and staffing plans for all implementation activities and organizational commitments.
- Direct data management department staffing needs (e.g., interviewing, hiring, new hire and ongoing training, annual evaluations, etc.)
- Participate in budget planning, initiation, and monitoring of expenses.
- Assess and report progress in meeting data management department objectives.
- Continuously assess and improve the team structure within Data Management whilst ensuring it aligns with immediate tactical and long-term strategic goals.
- Participate in Disaster Recovery (DR) exercises and ensure the DR environment is set up and configured properly.
Qualifications and Skills
- Expert knowledge of MDM, data governance, data architecture, and integration and emerging data stores and technologies.
- Hands-on management experience of complex systems and applications.
- Adept at project management including prior experience with system implementations, programming, integration, conversion, and testing.
- Strong experience with Azure cloud services, including data integration and analysis.
- Direct experience with data governance tooling. Experience is a plus.
- High level customer service mindset with a commitment to supporting both internal and external stakeholders.
- Detail oriented with excellent problem-solving abilities and abilities to perform under pressure in a challenging environment.
- Forward thinker who seeks to improve business processes that deliver better services.
