VP of Finance
SF-Bay Area
The VP of Finance will be a crucial member of the leadership team reporting to the
company President and having a dotted-line reporting relationship to the CFO at the parent
company. The VP of Finance will be the key finance lead responsible for providing the
overall financial direction of business through analysis, insights and taking a proactive
management approach.
A successful candidate will be confident and assertive, have the ability to interact with or
lead cross-functional teams, and provide a strong voice to represent the finance and
accounting function.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Responsible for all aspects of the accounting and finance department functions,
including monthly close process and day-to-day management of activities.
• Ensure the accuracy of the financial statements, key operating metrics, and report
results to the parent company in a timely manner.
• Perform detailed analysis of financial results and provide concise feedback to
leadership to support continuous improvement of future business results.
• Responsible for the development of the company's annual business plan and
updated forecasts during the financial year.
• Manage treasury activities with a focus on optimizing cash flow of the business.
• Manage the annual audit, legal matters, and regulatory reporting requirements, as
necessary.
• Site point person for new system implementation.
• Prepare analysis to support capital expenditure decision making.
• Foster an environment of strong internal controls and implement improvements
where necessary.
• Partner with the company President and leaders of each department to support
critical business decisions.
• Together with the company President will lead monthly business reviews held with
parent company advisors.
• Lead and develop accounting team personnel
• Provide support to other departments including, sales, operations, HR, engineering,
and IT.
Education and Experience:
• Bachelors or Masters degree in finance or accounting
• CPA and/or MBA a plus
• At least 10 years of progressive experience working in a manufacturing company
environment, including cost accounting experience, or at a CPA firm with a focus on
manufacturing and distribution.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Strong moral and ethical compass
• Solid understanding of GAAP and ability to use, analyze and solve moderately
complex accounting problems
• Understanding of cost accounting processes and terminology
• Technical ability to think outside an ERP system and perform ad hoc financial or
operational modeling when necessary.
• Punctual and detail oriented. Must have a strong curiosity to identify areas of
weakness and take initiative to drive improvement.
• Ability to plan and prioritize your work to meet objectives and deadlines.
• Unflappable under pressure and confident making decisions.
• Proficient Microsoft office skills, with advanced Excel skills preferred
• Experienced with ERP systems, within a manufacturing environment preferred
• Experience with ERP implementations highly desired
