The Role

As the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), you will be an integral and influential member of our Senior Leadership Team and has responsibility for 3 complex acute care facilities in Puget Sound. You will lead with authenticity and progressiveness to oversee clinical care delivery across the continuum. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring that clinical considerations are at the forefront of all strategic decisions, guiding the organization towards innovative and high-quality healthcare.

What You'll Do

  • Innovative Leader: Spearhead healthcare innovation and create strategies to deliver high-quality, safe, and cost-effective care, fostering a shared sense of purpose within a mission-driven healthcare enterprise.
  • Collaborative Physician Executive: Engage in substantial coordination of care in the inpatient environment, overseeing quality, patient safety, program growth, physician leadership development, and community health.
  • Strategic Partner: Work closely with hospital, medical group, population health, and ambulatory operations leaders to enhance affordability, access, quality, and reduce variability in care delivery.
  • Engagement Advocate: Foster relationships with key stakeholders to align clinical, hospital, ambulatory services, and clinical programs to meet community needs.
  • Data-Driven Visionary: Utilize technology and data to impact clinical care delivery, driving improvements in quality, growth, and patient safety.
  • Talent Developer: Mentor and develop physician leaders, ensuring a robust and future-focused leadership pipeline.

What You'll Bring

  • Clinical Expertise: MD or DO from an accredited medical school with appropriate board certification.
  • Advanced Education: An advanced degree in healthcare administration, business administration, or a related field is desirable.
  • Leadership Experience: A minimum of 10 years of senior physician leadership experience in a complex, integrated delivery region.
  • Strategic Insight: Exceptional ability to build trust, foster collaboration, and develop strategies that enhance care quality and operational efficiency.
  • Communication Excellence: Strong relationship and team-building skills, with the ability to articulate vision and strategies effectively across all levels of the organization.

Desired Outcomes

Within the first 18 to 24 months, the CMO will:

  • Build Trust and Credibility: Establish productive relationships with hospital and system leadership, gaining trust as a credible physician executive.
  • Strategic Vision Creation: Develop and implement a vision and strategic plan that advances cohesion and integration across geographically dispersed care sites.
  • Healthcare Transformation: Lead data-driven, accountable care transformation initiatives focusing on high-quality, efficient, value-based care.
  • Clinical Integration: Oversee and influence acute care environments, ambulatory operations, clinical institutes, and population health to build a patient-centered care continuum.
  • Modernize Care Delivery: Lead the modernization of care delivery through effective communication and alignment of providers with care transformation initiatives.
  • Engage and Align Providers: Serve as the "Chief Clinician," engaging both employed and independent physicians to ensure meaningful outcomes aligned with the organization’s mission, vision, and values.
  • Professional Development: Nurture the development of local clinical leadership, enhancing the effectiveness across the region.
  • Steward of Resources: Collaborate with leadership to align medical staff with strategic and operational priorities, ensuring responsible resource stewardship.
  • Performance Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives to achieve efficient clinical care and reduce variation in care delivery, demonstrating high-quality clinical outcomes benchmarked against national standards.

Pay Range: $ 375,000 - $ 425,000

The amounts listed are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
