Position Overview

Reporting to the VP of Operations, People & Culture, the People & Culture Generalist is responsible for day-to-day People-related activities, supporting and enhancing the employee experience at every stage of the employee lifecycle. This role is integral to fostering a positive, inclusive, and well-organized workplace by managing key HR functions such as recruiting, onboarding, benefits administration, culture initiatives, and compliance.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

Talent Acquisition & Recruiting

  • Support hiring efforts by posting job openings, conducting screening interviews, checking references, and preparing offer letters.
  • Liaise with hiring managers to ensure a smooth recruitment process.
  • Manage intern recruitment and interviews in partnership with the VP, Operations, People & Culture.


Onboarding & New Hire Experience

  • Ensure seamless onboarding, including enrolling new hires in BambooHR and sending detailed first-day emails.
  • Coordinate with Operations to ensure proper asset and tech setup.
  • Work with managers to create a productive first day, including preparing desks, office supplies, swag, and welcome bios/photos.


Payroll, Benefits & Compliance

  • Collect and process payroll paperwork, including I-9s, W-4s, and DE-4s, and handle I-9 reverification as needed.
  • Manage employee enrollments for health insurance via Ease and 401(k) through 3rd party site, ensuring timely setup and confirmation.
  • Oversee PTO accruals and disbursements, conducting quarterly reviews for accuracy.
  • Track freelance talent utilization for production and on-air talent, ensuring proper payroll processing through Media Services.


Training, Safety & Compliance

  • Implement OSHA and safety training programs (via Zywave or future platforms) to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Manage workers’ compensation claims, including paperwork, insurance coordination, and OSHA log maintenance.


Culture & Employee Engagement

  • Conduct quarterly check-ins with managers, coordinators, assistants, and crew-level employees to foster engagement and job satisfaction.
  • Organize internal DEI efforts via monthly Progressive Inclusion Committee (PIC) meetings, collaborating on initiatives, programs, and volunteer efforts.
  • Maintain the company culture deck and work with Design to ensure consistent brand standards in internal materials.
  • Manage internal communication efforts, including a monthly newsletter highlighting programs, events, and perks.


Company-Wide Events & Social Initiatives

  • Assist with planning and executing company social events
  • Partner with the VP, Operations, People & Culture to manage philanthropic efforts, track charitable giving, organize volunteer opportunities and recommend Gifiticality charities.


Offboarding & Transitions

  • Ensure smooth offboarding by coordinating final payroll paperwork, benefits termination, and return of company assets.
  • Conduct exit interviews to gather feedback and support continuous workplace improvements.


Administrative & Operational Support

  • Maintain electronic personnel files and ensure accuracy of confidential employee records.
  • Keep the org chart updated and coordinate with Operations on seating, parking, and nameplate updates.
  • Serve as the primary contact for employee questions on policies, perks, and benefits, organizing info sessions and connecting employees with third-party support.



Qualifications

  • 3+ years of HR or People Operations experience, ideally in a creative or production environment.
  • Strong understanding of HR processes, payroll, benefits, compliance, and talent management.
  • Excellent organizational skills with a proactive and detail-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience with HRIS (BambooHR preferred) and benefits platforms (Ease, Accrue) a plus.
