Main Purpose of Job
The main purpose of this position is to perform entry-level work with the Compliance Unit at the Maryland Board of Physicians (MBP). This position will assist the Compliance Unit in the investigations and the monitoring of cases and other compliance issues, such as Continuing Medical Education Audits and character and fitness reviews of licensure and renewal of applications. This position receives on-the-job training in all aspects of the Compliance Division of the Board.
The Board of Physicians may ask candidates to demonstrate certain skills through an assessment. Individuals selected for an interview are expected to demonstrate knowledge of center initiatives by reviewing the Board's website, mbp.state.md.us.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: Four years of experience conducting investigations in the area of healthcare, insurance, medical malpractice or other related investigative experience as defined by the Maryland Board of Physicians.
Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute the possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university for the required experience.
2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Legal or Investigator classifications or Legal or Investigator specialty codes in the Investigation field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience as a paralegal.
- Experience drafting summaries.
- Experience using Microsoft Office/Google Suites.
- Experience interpreting statutes and regulation.
- Experience in oral presentations and testimony.
