Who We’re Looking For
A successful Assistant Controller reports directly to the Controller. The Assistant Controller will assist in overseeing the overall fiscal operations of Gaudenzia Inc., Gaudenzia Foundation, and all related agencies. Duties include but are not limited to Supervising and ensuring accurate and timely work throughout the Fiscal department. This individual is responsible for maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements, supervision of staff, preparation of the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Work is performed in accordance with GAAP and in conjunction with Gaudenzia’s policies and procedures. Employees are expected to exercise initiative, independent judgment and critical thinking in completing their duties.

Education/Training
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and/or Finance from an accredited College or University is required.
Experience
Minimum of eight (8) years’ experience in accounting position with at least three (3) years supervisory experience.

Work is performed in accordance with GAAP and in conjunction with Gaudenzia’s policies and procedures. Employees are expected to exercise initiative, independent judgment and critical thinking in completing their duties.
Your responsibilities in this role may include
- Manage Accounting Manager and Senior Accountant.
- Assist in integration of Abila MIP accounting software, and ADP payroll processing software.
- Create and maintain excel templates to assist in accounting activities.
- Manage the accuracy and productivity of day-to-day activities of all supervised departments.
- Ensures appropriate financial reporting procedures and controls to ensure timely and accurate flow of financial information.
- Assist in the development and implementation of agency financial policies throughout all entities.
- Coordinate annual independent audits to ensure timeliness and detailed accuracy of annual audited financial statements.
- Safeguard assets and assure accurate and timely recording of all transactions by implementing disciplines of internal audits, controls and checks across all departments.
- Assist the Controller with financial matters of all Gaudenzia entities.
- Reconcile monthly inter-fund and general ledger balances.
- Conduct appropriate internal audits to maintain fiscal integrity and proper internal controls.
- Assist the Controller in the preparation of information for budgets and other information requested by funding agencies.
- Oversee and review daily cash flow analysis.
- Develop and review all corporate revenue and expense allocation procedures and calculations.
- Other duties as assigned by Controller.

Education/Training
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and/or Finance from an accredited College or University is required.
Experience
Minimum of eight (8) years’ experience in accounting position with at least three (3) years supervisory experience.
- Substitutions Appropriate substitutions may be made for an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. (2) years experience = 1 year education and training.
- Extensive knowledge in all functions of the General Ledger and nonprofit audit requirements.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Accounting, and all other related software.
- Knowledge of the accounting systems and software used by the agency.
- Ability to analyze and improve and automate workflow to improve efficiency and reduce errors.
- Ability to integrate ERP, EHR, and Payroll systems.
- Ability to communicate effectively with staff when dealing in financial matters.
- Demonstrate analytical leadership and problem-solving skills in financial matters.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with agency staff, outside agencies, auditors and vendors.
- Ability to effectively communicate both oral and written.
- Ability to maintain a sophisticated record system, utilize time management and organize work.
- Ability to effectively lead and maintain quality work in the Fiscal department.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements with variance analysis
