AUTOMOTIVE TRANSPORT DRIVER

THE POSITION: The Transport Driver delivers and transports cars to other dealerships and customers.

- Current, Valid, Driver’s license; satisfactory Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) Required.
- Must have a CDL License
- Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.
- Problem solving.
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Transport new and used vehicles from manufacturers, auction houses, or other dealerships to the dealership lot.
- Ensure safe loading and unloading of vehicles onto transport trucks or trailers.
- Drive vehicles between dealership locations for inventory management purposes.
- Inspect vehicles for damage, such as scratches, dents, or mechanical issues before transporting.
- Take note of the condition of the vehicle and report any pre-existing issues to the dealership.
- Safely load and unload vehicles onto transport vehicles, ensuring proper securement.
- Use proper equipment like ramps, lifts, or cranes for transporting vehicles.
- Follow all safety guidelines and regulations to prevent damage.
- Plan and follow the most efficient and safest route for vehicle transportation.
- Use GPS or other navigation tools to avoid delays or traffic issues.
- Communicate with dealership managers or customers regarding delivery and pickup times.
- Provide updates on vehicle statuses and handle any concerns related to transportation.
- Ensure transport vehicles (e.g., trailers, trucks) are maintained, cleaned, and in good working condition.
- Perform routine checks on transport vehicles for safety and operational issues.
- Complete paperwork related to vehicle transport, including delivery receipts and condition reports.
- Maintain accurate records of transportation schedules, vehicle inspections, and mileage.
- Follow all traffic laws, safety regulations, and industry standards while transporting vehicles.
- Ensure that vehicles are securely fastened to avoid accidents or damage during transport.
- Work closely with the sales and inventory teams to align transport schedules with inventory needs.
- Coordinate with the dealership for any special requests or specific vehicle delivery requirements.
- Park vehicles in designated areas upon arrival at the dealership.
- Organize vehicles on the dealership lot to maximize space and ensure proper display for customers.
- Transport specialized vehicles (e.g., luxury cars, electric vehicles, or high-performance models) with extra care and attention to their unique needs.
- Required to stand, sit, use hand to finger, handle, or feel.
- Frequently is required to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach with hands and arms, take and hear.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
