Description

This position will collaborate closely with the Tax Manager and processes related to tax, state/local compliance, Business Licenses, registrations, property taxes, etc. This role will assist and complete tax projects, research compliance, refund reviews, and tax audit support. The Indirect Tax Staff Accountant will participate in technical research, sales tax audits, voluntary disclosure projects, nexus projects, sales tax systems implementations and other sales tax projects that arise. Responsibilities

  • Assist with Nexus determination & registration of licenses/permits – research & gather detailed information or documents. Assist in preparation of required filing documents and payment remittances.
  • Notices resolution – review, research, determine issue, gather support documentation, written communication to authorities, as well as oral communication.
  • Work with 3rd-party Sales Tax preparation services, providing support & g/l tax liability account reconciliation.
  • Assist in preparing Miscellaneous Business filings; per state/county/city mandates.
  • Federal Form W-9, W-8 & State Resale certificates – provide when requested.
  • Maintain primary filing calendar- update with filings information and new additions.
  • Work with multiple departments/business areas to assist with tax issues or questions.
  • Assist in preparing Business Personal Property tax renditions & schedules.
  • Assist with completion of the business related quarterly and annual regulatory filings.
  • Assist with audits. Complete requested materials. Assist in preparing assigned schedules for the state/county various tax audits.
  • Document policies, procedures, and workflow for assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Contribute to department and organization special projects as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or other closely related field is preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Adherence to laws and confidentiality guidelines.
  • 3-5 years of accounting functions within Construction related industries – Sales Tax & Property Tax work experience preferred.
  • Research skills – business registrations filings.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
