Principal Product Designer

iFIT’s vision is to create the world’s most holistic health and fitness platform, integrating all elements of health - physical fitness, mental health, nutrition and active recovery - into a seamless interactive experience. We develop proprietary software that learns and adjusts to the habits of each person as it delivers immersive content that guides them on their individual fitness journey.

We are currently seeking an ambitious pace-setter to join our team as a Principal Product Designer in Logan, or Utah or remotely.

Role Committments

• Design System:
• Library: Assemble and build a single, organized and scalable component library that is 1:1 with production
• Management: Develop and install a governance process, collaborate with designers and developers to ensure work leverages the system, develop and maintain design system documentation, maintain and prioritize a backlog of design system work needed.
• Visual language:
• Guide our user interface design towards a more visually impactful, user friendly and immersive app experience: Focussing on the iFit dashboard, in-workout and forthcoming connected strength experiences.
• Identify, design and propose a system based solution for app resolution and scaling. Outcomes: Higher resolution video content, smarter mobile tap target sizing, more content visible without scrolling on the dashboard.
• Get a copy of the iFit app running locally in Android Studio in order to gain access to the way our app scales to different modalities and screen resolutions. Learn enough code to understand the way our design system components are structured and to be able to experiment with and fine tune special effects and typography.
• Attend Figma/Config, SF, May 6-8 Outcomes: Understand emerging and new technologies, understand the processes and structures that are allowing top performing design teams to build world class digital products.
  

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Exceptional ability to communicate design concepts through artifacts, such as site maps, journey maps, storyboards, prototypes, documentation, and storytelling.
• A great sensitivity to color, aesthetics, typography, white space, layout, etc.
• Design prototypes to rapidly assess the viability of ideas and potential directions or solutions. Work closely with UX to define product experiences and prototype them for discovery and definition purposes.
• UI Design: Translate wireframes and prototypes into visually appealing interfaces, maintaining consistency in design elements, branding, and aesthetics. Create high-fidelity designs, including icons, typography, color schemes, and layout.
• Visual Design Excellence: Create visually stunning and pixel-perfect designs that align with brand guidelines while also exploring innovative design trends. Ensure a harmonious balance of aesthetics, functionality, and usability.
• Graphic Asset Creation: Design and produce graphic elements, icons, and other visual assets that enhance the user interface. Maintain a keen eye for detail in iconography, imagery, and other visual elements.
• Responsive Design Implementation: Develop designs that are responsive and adaptable across various devices and screen sizes. Ensure a seamless and consistent experience, whether on desktop, mobile, or tablet.
• Motion Design and Micro-interactions: Implement micro-interactions and animations that enrich the user experience. Utilize motion design to guide user actions and provide feedback, enhancing usability and engagement.
• UI Testing and Feedback Integration: Conduct UI-specific A/B/C tests and gather feedback on the visual aspects of the design. Implement improvements based on feedback and iterate on visual elements to optimize the overall user experience.
• Accessibility Considerations: Ensure the design is accessible to users with disabilities by following best practices, such as contrast ratios, scalable fonts, and other accessibility guidelines.
• Design detailed workflows, wireframes, and prototypes to rapidly assess the viability of ideas and potential directions or solutions. Design intuitive and functional user experiences, ensuring ease of navigation and accessibility.
• Work through problems, translating insights from research and analytics into concepts, components, products, and solutions that drive the business forward and empower our customers in their own journeys.
• Work cross-functionally with Brand and Marketing to continuously develop understanding of the end-to-end iFIT customer journey as well as creating products that not only represent our brand but strengthen it and define it.
• Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with product managers, developers, and other stakeholders to align design solutions with business goals and technical feasibility. Create a solid relationship specifically with development teams to ensure the feasibility and accuracy of design implementation. Provide support and guidance during the development process to maintain design integrity. Communicate design concepts effectively, gather feedback, and iterate designs based on insights.
• Seek out feedback from stakeholders to drive consensus and mine for purpose, working together to derive the optimal outcome, given the constraints and priorities.
• User Research and Analysis: Work closely with our consumer insights team to conduct thorough user research, including interviews, surveys, and usability testing, to understand user behaviors, needs, and pain points. Analyze data and derive insights to inform design decisions.
• Design Evangelism: Advocate for the importance of design choices and best practices within the broader team. Communicate the rationale behind visual decisions and help others understand the impact on user experience.
• Design System and Documentation: Establish and maintain design systems, style guides, and documentation to ensure consistency and scalability across different platforms and devices.
• Stay Updated: Keep abreast of industry trends, best practices, CMF, and emerging technologies in industrial design. Apply this knowledge to enhance designs and processes.
