System Engineer - Linux Salary Range: $29.00 - $47.00/ Hr.

The System Engineer 1 - Linux will provide front-line support for Linux-based systems, assist in monitoring infrastructure, troubleshooting issues, and supporting day-to-day operations.

The System Engineer 1 - Linux will provide front-line support for Linux-based systems, assist in monitoring infrastructure, troubleshooting issues, and supporting day-to-day operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- System Monitoring: Monitor Linux-based servers and systems to ensure optimal performance, availability, and security.
- Troubleshooting: Provide first-level support by diagnosing and resolving issues related to Linux servers, software, and network.
- User Support: Assist internal teams and users with issues regarding Linux system functionality and access.
- System Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks, including updates, patching, and configuration changes.
- Backup and Recovery: Assist in managing system backups and perform recovery operations as needed.
- Security: Implement basic security measures and respond to incidents under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of system configurations, changes, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Collaboration: Work closely with senior engineers and other IT team members to improve system performance and resolve complex issues.
- Scripting: Develop and maintain basic scripts for automation of routine tasks (Bash, Python, etc.).
- Employees are expected to follow instructions, procedures and to escalate any issue impacting workflow, quality, etc.

Minimum Qualifications
- Certifications: CompTIA Linux+, Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA), or similar certification.
- Experience working with Linux systems.
- Experience with command-line interface (CLI) and basic Linux utilities.
- Familiarity with Linux operating systems (e.g., Ubuntu, Suse, RedHat).
- Basic understanding of networking, TCP/IP, DNS, and firewalls.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot issues in real-time.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Knowledge of system monitoring tools (e.g., Graylog, Zabbix).
- Familiarity with cloud environments like AWS or Azure.
