Job Summary

Applies basic to intermediate technical skills and knowledge to perform fabrication and assembly of airplane components.

Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities

• Performs tasks that are simple to moderately complex requiring some skill, experience and judgment to complete relative to fabrication, assembly and repair of metallic and nonmetallic detail parts, subassemblies and assemblies.
• Lays out and marks dimensions and reference lines on material with or without templates or shop aides. Routes, saws, drills or otherwise change and add value to detail parts and subassemblies according to work instructions.
• Uses hand and power tools such as routers, drill motors, die grinders and other like tools to complete the required operations called out in the work instructions. Trims parts to fit and files, grinds, deburrs, bevels edges, polishes surfaces and otherwise finishes out the material, part or assembly to specifications.
• Assembles detail parts into subassemblies and complete assemblies using written and verbal work instructions. Installs rivets, bolts, screws and clips and prepares and applies adhesives. Inspects assemblies and installation for conformance to specifications.
• Operates production machines and equipment such as hot or cold presses, band saws, and other like production machines to fabricate parts, components and material for production uses.

Performs other duties as required. These duties may include assignments in job classifications and departments other than the primary assignment.

Education Requirements

Other. No formal education required. If applicable, a combination of experience and training may be substituted for the education requirement.

Experience Requirements

1 year(s) Light fabrication and assembly of non-metallic and metallic parts and assemblies for aerospace industry applications.

Skills and Competencies

• Must be able to read and write the English language and learn to interpret and comprehend company policies, procedures, safety instructions, work instructions, engineering specifications, Material Safety Data Sheets, and other like documents used in an aerospace manufacturing environment

Physical Requirements

Must be able to work in excess of eight (8) hours per day and five (5) days per week, if required. Additionally, those who work at NORDAM Repair Division must be able to ascend and descend stairs.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the Stakeholder is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment can vary from loud to a more moderate level.

• Follows standard written or oral instructions.
• May need additional assistance for more complex tasks.
