Georgia-Pacific Consumer Products Operation is seeking qualified professionals to consider for a Manufacturing Engineer - Converting role supporting the Consumer Products Group Operations located in Muskogee, OK. The Muskogee facility uses integrated technology to manufacture tissue and paper towel products in a progressive production environment.

The Manufacturing Engineer in Converting at Georgia-Pacific focuses on optimizing and improving the converting processes involved in manufacturing products such as paper, packaging, and related products. Their role is crucial in ensuring efficient, cost-effective, and high-quality production.

What You Will Do

  • Embrace influential leadership to support the organization while advancing our Principle-Based Management (PBM) culture
  • Analyze and evaluate current converting processes to identify areas for improvement in efficiency, quality, and cost
  • Develop and implement process improvements and best practices to enhance production capabilities
  • Lead and manage projects related to process improvements, equipment upgrades, and new technology implementation
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams including operations, maintenance, and quality to ensure successful project execution
  • Utilize data analysis tools to monitor production processes and identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement
  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders
  • Collaborate with equipment vendors and suppliers to evaluate new technologies and equipment for potential implementation
  • Oversee the installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of new and existing equipment
  • Work closely with the quality assurance team to ensure products meet industry standards and customer specifications
  • Develop and implement quality control processes to identify and address defects or quality issues
  • Provide technical support and training to production staff and operators on new processes, equipment, and technologies
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence among team members
  • Ensure all engineering activities are conducted in compliance with safety regulations and company policies
  • Participate in safety audits and initiatives to promote a safe working environment


Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Experience working within a manufacturing, converting, industrial or military environment
  • Strong understanding of converting processes, equipment, and technologies
  • Experience with root cause analysis and process control techniques
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on data-driven decision-making
  • Experience in managing projects from conception through implementation and evaluation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate with various teams and stakeholders


What Will Put You Ahead

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Paper Science or related field
  • Deep understanding of safety protocols and a commitment to promoting a safe work environment
  • Experience initiating and/or executing capital projects
  • Proficiency in CAD software and other engineering tools for process design and analysis
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on data-driven decision-making
