Description

**Pending Contract Award**

The Boeing 737 Chief Instructor Pilot is responsible for safe, economical, consistent and legal operation and training of Company aircraft and is required to comply with all applicable regulations as well as AAR CORP. policies, standards and procedures. This position will be responsible for providing training support including in-flight training of U.S. Government personnel.

What you will be responsible for:

  • Operate, monitor, analyze and appropriately react to all aircraft operational functions such as aircraft performance, internal and external communications, air traffic and climate conditions.
  • Perform flight operations tasks including aircraft takeoff, climb, cruise, descent, approach, landing, taxi-in and parking in accordance with FAA mandated standards.
  • Maintain expert knowledge of assigned aircraft equipment type and current operational procedures.
  • Provide in-flight training to U.S. Government personnel utilizing provided training regimes and aids in order to enable them to become proficient in operating the aircraft.
  • Economically coordinate tasks to permit a number of functions, including but not limited to, flight fueling, loading, passenger handling, and associated duties to transport passengers and cargo in a safe manner in accordance with Company policies, standards and procedures and appropriate federal regulations.
  • Must maintain currency requirements with regard to medical, training, and hourly flight requirements.
  • Assist with the development of training processes and procedures, assess training risks, provide quality assessment of training, observe the overall flight-training program, and make written recommendations to the customer.
  • Schedule contractor instructor pilots to ensure an instructor pilot is identified for all customer missions.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to Instructor Pilots.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

What you will need to be successful in this role:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Unrestricted Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) multiengine land airplane certificate and instrument rating, unless the pilot was a former military pilot and, in such case, may possess a Commercial Multi Engine Land Airplane (not limited to centerline thrust) and instrument rating.
  • B737 type rating.
  • Commercial Pilot License (CPL) with experience meeting pilot in command experience requirements per 14 CFR 61.57 and 61.58.
  • Multi-Engine Instructor License (MEI).
  • Current FAA Certificated Flight Instructor (CFI) certificate.
  • Certified Flight Instructor Instrument (CFII).
  • Current with 14 CFR part 61 subpart G for the Boeing 737-800 aircraft in order to exercise privileges of 14 CFR 61.167.
  • Minimum 2,500 hours of flight time of which 750 hours were acquired within the preceding three (3) years as Pilot in command time in Jet Aircraft and 250 hours are at night and 75 hours of actual or simulated instructor time with at least 50 hours in actual flight (14 CFR 61.159).
  • Must have at least 500 hours of turbojet experience with at least 100 hours turbojet flight time in the past 12 calendar months, 50 hours of which must have been in a turbojet aircraft or level C or D simulator within the last 12 calendar months.
  • Current Second – Class Medical Certificate.
  • Must complete an annual check ride IAW 14 CFR 61.58 with an FAA approved designated examiner or training center evaluator.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write in English.
  • Must be able to maintain ability to access worksite location to include various military installations and airports to meet customer operational requirements.
  • Must have and maintain a valid state driver’s license to operate a company vehicle.
  • Must have a safe driving record, as defined by Company policy, to operate a company vehicle.
  • Must be able to successfully complete a drug/alcohol test and a criminal record check.
  • Ability to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC) in a timely manner.

Preferred qualifications for the position:

  • Bachelor of Arts degree (B.A.) or Bachelor of Science degree (B.S.) from a four-year college or university is preferred.
  • Prior Instructor Pilot in the US Military.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Flexibility to work irregular hours. Work is primarily Monday through Friday, with 2 to 3 days of flying 5-hour missions per week. There will be some weekends required and some overnight flights. All flights are CONUS.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, including flight bags and operational equipment.
  • Sufficient strength and dexterity to operate aircraft controls and emergency systems.
  • Good vision (correctable to 20/20) and hearing, as required by FAA standards.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods while supporting flight operations.
  • Capability to pass a rigorous medical examination, including cardiovascular and respiratory health assessments.
  • Primarily onboard aircraft with periods in airport terminals and operational facilities.
  • Exposure to varying weather conditions during pre-flight and post-flight inspections.
