Position Overview:
The In-House Paralegal is a critical member of Bragg Corporate’s legal team, supporting the Vice President of Legal (In-house General Counsel) in managing legal and compliance matters within our dynamic construction organization. This role is essential for ensuring that all legal documentation is meticulously handled, compliance standards are met, and legal risks are effectively managed. The In-House Paralegal will be responsible for drafting and reviewing contracts, conducting legal research, and providing comprehensive administrative support, thereby contributing to the seamless operation and legal integrity of the company.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contract Management: Assist the General Counsel in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating various contracts, including construction agreements, vendor contracts, and subcontracts.
- Legal Research: Conduct thorough research on construction laws, regulations, and industry standards to support legal decision-making and compliance.
- File Management: Maintain and organize legal files, ensuring all documents are accessible, up-to-date, and kept confidential.
- Compliance Monitoring: Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal laws applicable to the construction industry, and support the development and implementation of internal policies and procedures.
- Insurance and Litigation Support: Assist in managing insurance claims, disputes, and litigation processes, including the preparation of case materials.
- Administrative Support: Prepare reports, presentations, and summaries for the General Counsel and executive leadership, manage document filing systems, and coordinate meetings by preparing agendas and recording minutes.
- Coordination with External Counsel: Liaise with external legal counsel as needed to facilitate legal processes and ensure alignment with company objectives.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or a related field. Paralegal certification is required.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of paralegal experience, preferably within the construction, infrastructure, or real estate industries.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in legal document management systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional research, writing, and communication skills. High attention to detail and strong organizational abilities, with the capacity to prioritize multiple responsibilities effectively.
- Confidentiality: Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills to interact clearly with all levels of the organization.
- Legal Knowledge: Familiarity with multi-state legal subjects relevant to the construction industry, corporate legal practices, and regulatory compliance, coupled with a strong desire to learn and grow within the role.
Preferred Experience:
- Industry Knowledge: Experience with lien laws, permits, and licensing processes is advantageous.
- Regulatory Familiarity: Understanding of environmental and safety regulations related to construction projects.
- Additional Certifications: Advanced certifications in paralegal studies or related areas.
- Software Proficiency: Experience with industry-specific legal software and tools.
Work Environment:
- Location: This role is primarily office-based within our corporate headquarters, with occasional requirements for site visits.
- Travel: Minimal travel may be required for meetings with external counsel or site inspections.
- Physical Conditions: Standard office environment with prolonged periods of sitting and computer use. May occasionally require standing or moving between office areas.
Reporting Structure:
The In-House Paralegal reports directly to the Vice President of Legal (In-house General Counsel). This role collaborates closely with other members of the legal team, project managers, and various departments across the organization to ensure comprehensive legal support and compliance.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Salary: $34.00 - $36.00 per hour, based on skills, qualifications, and experience.
