Position Summary

Reporting directly to the CFO, the Controller will lead the transformation of the accounting function through a period of significant growth. This leader will ensure accurate financial reporting with the implementation of strong internal controls, and operational efficiency. This role will oversee the month-end close process, financial reporting, cash management, and compliance while driving process improvements. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with a strong background in accounting, ERP systems, and financial controls, ideally within a manufacturing and private equity-backed environment.

Core Responsibilities

• Oversee the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, bank reconciliations, payroll, and month-end close.
• Maintain and enhance accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure financial accuracy and minimize risk.
• Lead the month-end close process, including general ledger account reconciliations (revenue, expenses, cash, prepaids, accruals, and inter-company accounts).
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, reporting accuracy, and financial controls.
• Supervise and manage the accounting staff including the AR manager, AP manager, and soon to be hired staff accountant.
• Manage financial and tax audits, liaising with external auditors and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Collaborate with the CFO to support annual budgeting and forecasting processes, providing variance analysis and insights.
• Ensure compliance with private equity sponsor reporting requirements, lender covenants, and regulatory filings.
• Collaborate with leadership on financial strategy, working capital management, and M&A integration.
• Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.
  
  

Requirements

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
• 7+ years of progressively responsible accounting experience, ideally combining public and corporate accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting.
• Proven ability to implement process improvements that enhance efficiency and accuracy.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.
• Prior experience in a private equity-backed company is a plus.
• Demonstrated leadership experience with successful team management, coaching, and mentoring.
• Experience working with Acumatica or a cloud-based ERP system (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, or Oracle) is highly desirable.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel.
• CPA certification is a plus.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
• Minimal travel required (less than 10%).
