Position Summary
Reporting directly to the CFO, the Controller will lead the transformation of the accounting function through a period of significant growth. This leader will ensure accurate financial reporting with the implementation of strong internal controls, and operational efficiency. This role will oversee the month-end close process, financial reporting, cash management, and compliance while driving process improvements. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with a strong background in accounting, ERP systems, and financial controls, ideally within a manufacturing and private equity-backed environment.

Position Summary

This leader will ensure accurate financial reporting with the implementation of strong internal controls, and operational efficiency. This role will oversee the month-end close process, financial reporting, cash management, and compliance while driving process improvements. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with a strong background in accounting, ERP systems, and financial controls, ideally within a manufacturing and private equity-backed environment.
Core Responsibilities
- Oversee the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, bank reconciliations, payroll, and month-end close.
- Maintain and enhance accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure financial accuracy and minimize risk.
- Lead the month-end close process, including general ledger account reconciliations (revenue, expenses, cash, prepaids, accruals, and inter-company accounts).
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, reporting accuracy, and financial controls.
- Supervise and manage the accounting staff including the AR manager, AP manager, and soon to be hired staff accountant.
- Manage financial and tax audits, liaising with external auditors and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Collaborate with the CFO to support annual budgeting and forecasting processes, providing variance analysis and insights.
- Ensure compliance with private equity sponsor reporting requirements, lender covenants, and regulatory filings.
- Collaborate with leadership on financial strategy, working capital management, and M&A integration.
- Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
- 7+ years of progressively responsible accounting experience, ideally combining public and corporate accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting.
- Proven ability to implement process improvements that enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.
- Prior experience in a private equity-backed company is a plus.
- Demonstrated leadership experience with successful team management, coaching, and mentoring.
- Experience working with Acumatica or a cloud-based ERP system (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, or Oracle) is highly desirable.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel.
- CPA certification is a plus.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Minimal travel required (less than 10%).
