As a Software Design Engineer, you will be working with other software developers and researchers, The Program Manager, and the Director of Unmanned Systems Research and Parallax clients. When working with your team, you will provide software research and development based on project needs in support of the Air Force. The Software Developer's purpose is to ensure and execute quality software tools and utilities as directed by the customer. The Software Developer will work with a team of varying sizes to create software programs utilizing varying techniques, tools, and computer languages depending on the current directed needs of the customer. The Software Developer will update the software and conduct quality control functions.
In this position, you will not only be developing software and conducting research and development but also be providing support for the Remotely Piloted Aircraft team.

In addition to that, a typical day-in-the-life of a Parallax Software Design Engineer includes:
- Collaborating with management, departments, and customers to identify end-user requirements and specifications; testing and deploying programs and applications, troubleshooting, debugging, maintaining, and improving existing software
- Compiling and assessing user feedback to improve software performance
- Observing user feedback to recommend improvements to current software products and developing technical documentation to guide future software development projects.
- Performing C# programming on projects related to RPA ground control stations.
- This includes the design and development of human-machine interfaces (HMI), system architectures and protocols, and potential distributed cooperative control algorithms.
- Projects may also involve interfacing with various autopilot and payload protocols to develop a STANAG 4586 Vehicle Specific Module (VSM
- Prepare the software user manuals. Prepare and present project status reports to clients.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related fields
- 5+ years of exp. with Software Development
- 3+ years of exp. with C#, .NET, WPF/XAML technologies
- U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and hold a Top Secret Security Clearance
- Master’s Degree in Computer Science or related fields
- 10+ years of exp. with Software Development
- 4+ years of exp. with AFRL Vigilant Spirit Control Station
- 3+ years of exp. with GIT, CI/CD strategies, issue trackers
- 4+ years of exp. with STANAG 4586 Vehicle Specific Module (VSM) development
- 2+ years of exp. with flight testing ground control stations
- C/C++, Python, and web technologies experience (HTML/CSS/JavaScritpt)
- Azure and/or AWS management experience
- Azure DevOps Server, GitLab, and/or GitHub experience
