Job Summary MTI Instruments by Vitrek is currently seeking a Mechanical Designer/Drafter to join our growing engineering team. This full-time position is onsite at our Albany, NY office. You would be part of a local team that will also interact with the larger Vitrek family in solving complex problems. You will report to the Mechanical Team Manager.

What You’ll Do

• Create, maintain, and revise Engineering documentation under the guidance of the Mechanical Team Manager.
• Develop 2D/3D CAD solid models, drawings, Bill’s of Materials (BOM’s), Electrical design files, and more.
• Support and lead design tasks, and assist in building and testing prototype products.
• Interface with various software programs including Autodesk AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, SAP Business One, Engineering Change Notice (ECN) systems, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office suite programs, and more.

What You’ll Need

• 2D design in Autodesk AutoCAD Mechanical.
• 3D Solid modeling in Autodesk Inventor and/or SolidWorks.
• Associate degree (or higher) in a relevant Engineering technology discipline from an ABET-accredited college/university.
• 2+ years of relevant experience.
• Solid understanding of engineering concepts and experience designing mechanical systems and products.
• Strong communication and presentation abilities.
• Basic understanding of machine tools such as lathes, mills, CNC, and additive manufacturing.
• Drawing documentation standards per ASME Y14.5.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite programs.
