Key Responsibilities

  • Process CapitalOne lockbox and deposits daily via remote.
  • Interface with employees and customers via phone or walk in to assist with resolving tenant accounting discrepancies.
  • Assist with move-out deposit accounting as needed.
  • Review and prepare electricity charges for occupied unit tenants.
  • Follow-up with operational and department managers on purchase order and invoice approvals.
  • Carefully manage AP files and documentation to ensure complete and precise records.
  • Handles a range of administrative tasks including filing documents, data entry, scanning, answering phones, and processing mail.
  • Coordinates work with the Accountant Supervisor and Finance Manager in the preparation of financial analyses and annual reports.
  • Supports the relationship between DHA and the constituent population by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with clients, visitors, and DHA staff.
  • Enthusiastically promotes the President/CEO's priorities for the operations of DHA.

Knowledge and Skills for Success

A successful Accountant has…

  • Knowledge of DHA organization, operations, policies and procedures.
  • Understanding of and skill in applying Government Accounting Standards Board (GASB).
  • Knowledge of and skill in applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Generally Accepted Auditing Principles related to public sector financial administration.
  • Understanding of the principles of record keeping and records management.
  • Knowledge of software applications with emphasis on MS Office, Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Skill in analysis and application of accounting principles and standards.
  • Skill in multi-tasking and establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with DHA staff.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • The ability to interact effectively with diverse groups of people.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Business Administration
  • Two (2) years of accounting experience
  • OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
