StarCare Specialty Health System (StarCare) is seeking a full time Accounts Payable/Payroll Staff Accountant to join its outstanding Accounting Team!

Assist with accounts payable functions, trust fund accountant functions and payroll duties for the company under the supervision of the Accounts Payable/Payroll supervisor. Works under moderate supervision, with some latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with preparation and submission of company payroll and maintains up-to-date knowledge of payroll processes
  • Process expenditures submitted into Company expense software for both accounts payable and trust fund; generate payments accordingly after expenses have been approved
  • Process electronic payment files
  • Prepare journal entries related to accounts payable, trust fund, and payroll transactions
  • Maintain accurate records including updating direct deposit information, vendor addresses, EINs, COIs, W9s, contracts, client expenditures, client demographics, client budgets, and any other information needed for a complete vendor record
  • Compile records for various financial audits with external agencies and internal requests
  • Prepare assigned reconciliations related to payroll, accounts payable and trust fund accounts
  • Review all payment requests for compliance with company procurement policies
  • Assist with reconciling payroll bills with payroll records and submit for payment processing
  • Assist with processing annual 1099s
  • Assist with preparation of monthly workers compensation report, send it to external agencies and submit for internal payment processing
  • Assist with preparation of budgets for trust fund clients, maintaining all trust fund records, and providing reports as needed to various agencies and staff members
  • Assist with preparing and submitting Payee Reports
  • Backup for accounts payable and trust fund functions as needed
  • Correspond professionally via phone, letters or email with both external and internal vendors
  • Other duties assigned to support the accounting department

Schedule:

This is a full-time/non-exempt position scheduled Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm, with flexibility to meet the needs of the department.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in accounting, preferred.
  • 2-4 years of proven experience in accounts payable, accounting, and payroll preferred.
  • Knowledge of accounting and financial operations.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills to work effectively with external vendors and internal teams.
  • High degree of attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Skill in the use of office equipment, computers, and associated software applications.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must pass pre-hire criminal background check and drug screen.
  • Must have a valid Texas driver's license, liability auto insurance, and be insurable under the organization's insurance.
