About The Role & Team
Big City Greens is looking for storyboard artists with a passion for character-driven comedic storytelling. We’re looking for board artists with strong drawing and filmmaking skills, a desire to create compelling entertaining stories, an understanding of animation principles, and the ability to collaborate with others. Storyboard artists work from a script but are also encouraged to contribute ideas for jokes and dialogue; collaborating with the writing team to make the episode the best it can be. We like working with artists that have a strong voice who can also work within the established style of the show. What You Will Do
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent combination of training and experience.
The pay rate for this role in California is $65.40 to $69.38 per hour, which follows the pay scale agreed upon in the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The base pay actually offered may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors. Select benefits may be provided as part of the compensation package, such as medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered. What You Will Do
- Create storyboards: from thumbnail/rough storyboard panels through delivery of finished storyboard sequences
- Ensure that the vision and style of the show is consistently adhered to through execution of action, staging, dialogue, and camera
- Pitch storyboards and address notes from the Director and Creative Supervisors
- Collaborate with creative department heads and production to review goals and vision for the storyboards and discuss concerns, timelines and complexity, given the parameters of the schedule; Responsible for completing all deliverables on time and according to production schedule and within guidelines/show parameters such as number of scenes, complexity requirements, etc
- E nsure that storyboards include all final dialogue, backgrounds, direction, camera moves and action by making drawing or text changes in description, dialogue, or numbering
- Submit work that appropriately aligns with production and workflow guidelines requirements (i.e., naming conventions and storage)
- Additional duties as necessary, or as defined by individual contracts
- 1+ years storyboard experience and/or training on a similar show
- Knowledge of software and hardware including Cintiq, Toon Boon Storyboard Pro, and Photoshop
- Ability to align with the style and sensibility of show, including the ability to draw characters and environments on model within a particular show style
- A portfolio that demonstrates staging, composition and cinematography skills, along with strong comedy, action, emotional storytelling, and character interactions
- Ability to write clear and specific direction on storyboards
- Consistent time-management skills and the ability to meet deadlines
- Prior knowledge and experience working in television animation production pipelines
