What You’ll Do
This Business Analyst (BA) position within the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, Office of Family Assistance (OFA) will perform a variety of daily tasks. This role involves writing business requirements (BRs), attending, and participating in discovery and design sessions, and reviewing deliverables. This role involves participating in all phases of User Acceptance Testing (UAT), developing test plans and writing scripts, and serving as the lead on a rotating basis as assigned.
Business Requirements Development
- Develop BRs, by reviewing the executive summary, current system functionality, and other documentation as needed.
- Prepare for and attend meetings to review requirements and framework, updating BRs if necessary, and submitting for final approval.
Discovery/Design Sessions
- Attend discovery and design sessions as assigned, reviewing materials before the sessions to prepare for providing functional system background information when necessary.
Deliverable Review
- Review all deliverables to make sure that the team is aware of all enhancement and defect updates occurring within Ohio Benefits (OB) and its ancillary systems.
Enhancement and Defect Scripting/Case Setup
- Review assigned work intakes, for both enhancements and defects, to determine if test plans or scripts are needed.
- Draft test plan or scripts and review test plan with SNAP/CASH Policy/Program Policy Services as required.
- Use provided scenarios to set-up use cases for other areas to test.
User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
- Take part in UAT for releases by completing assigned scripts, to determine if an item is or isn’t Working as Designed (WAD), WAD but not as desired, or is a defect.
- Attend daily UAT Touchbase/Defect Triage calls, and other meetings as needed.
- Review/present test results at the internal meetings.
UAT Lead BA Role (as assigned on a rotating basis)
- Ensure testers have access to the appropriate testing regions and other tasks necessary in preparation for UAT.
- Track test plans to ensure they are received by the due date, providing test plans to more testers for review. Coordinate the UAT test plan review by the BA team, monitoring all test plan revisions for approval/completion.
- Coordinate the uploading of scripts to UAT testing software and assign scripts to appropriate testers.
- Attend UAT meetings, such as kickoff meetings, daily UAT Touchbase/Defect Triage calls, and other meetings as necessary.
- Review daily reports from DAS and send testing statistics to testing group and managers, field questions and concerns from testers/management, submit batch requests sent from testers, escalating any concerns with testing to the ES PM.
Deployment Preparation
Before deployment BAs review product release notes providing feedback on content/needed revisions. The IT systems updated are crucial to the administration of public assistance programs. Releases may have competing timelines, requiring flexibility and strong organizational skills. Deadlines are often tight, so you’ll need to manage your time effectively while staying focused on both long-term goals and day-to-day tasks.
Schedule: 8:00 a.m to 5:00 p.m.
Travel: Travel required, as needed. Must provide own transportation or, to operate a state vehicle, you must have a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate, at minimum, must have the following:
Completion of undergraduate core coursework or 2 years exp. in social or behavioral science, pre-medicine, business administration, public administration, human services as defined in series purpose, or comparable field:
AND In addition, must meet the following:
- For Ohio Benefits System positions, requires 24 mos. recent exp. (i.e., within past 5 years) in delivery of human services that included explaining & applying public assistance laws, policies & procedures mandated by Ohio Department of Job & Family Services & using Ohio Benefits and 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. in operating personal computer & using Microsoft Office system software, that is Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, or like software package.
