About The Position

The Director, Project Management is responsible for managing all aspects of the Project Management Organization (PMO) for Astec’s global Oracle ERP implementation. The position must facilitate and develop all processes related to the PMO as well as creation and overall coordination of the program and its project plan(s). The position must ensure on time and within budget delivery of projects and functionality that meets or exceeds expected business KPI’s. The Director, Project Management directly leads several project managers while ensuring that the entire project team is set up for success and that there is alignment with the implementation partner. To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate must demonstrate the ability to engage and empower teams by providing clear direction on navigating individual project deliverables and completion as well as overall ERP program. The Director, Project Management will also deliver clear communication to all stakeholders regarding progress and issues while ensuring timely escalation to remove all roadblocks. This role requires someone with a proven ability to manage complex, cross-functional projects in a fast-paced environment, strategic thinking, strong leadership, and excellent communication skills. This Director, Project Management is a member of the Oracle ERP implementation leadership team and works closely with that team to ensure that the overall program is successful.

Key Activities & Responsibilities

  • Develops PMO processes and ensures they are effective and followed.
  • Develops vision and plan for programs and projects based on business needs and assigns resources.
  • Develops and implements project management methodologies, best practices, and standards to enhance project delivery.
  • Ensure development of detailed project plans with resource assignment and capacity planning.
  • Leads team in coordination of internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects.
  • Oversee all aspects of project management, including scope, resource allocation, timelines, and risk management.
  • Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of Oracle Fusion projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Manages direct resources (Project Managers) and indirectly the entire project team.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across various departments to ensure alignment and successful project outcomes.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and excellence.
  • Develop contingency plans to address potential challenges and ensure project continuity.
  • Conduct post-project evaluations to identify lessons learned and areas for improvement.
  • Track and report on project performance, using key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure success.
  • Assist in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring solution feasibility.
  • Manage the relationship with the business and leadership stakeholders.
  • Measure project performance using appropriate systems, tools, and techniques.
  • Ensure projects are measured and meet/exceed expected business requirements and KPI’s.
  • Ensure alignment with implementation partner.
  • Oversees documentation for processes and procedures for projects.
  • Participate as part of the Oracle program leadership team, to collaborate and ensure that the projects and overall program are successful
  • Advise project sponsorship on various topics and decisions related to the Oracle project

To be successful in this role, your experience and competencies are:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
  • 7+ years of end-to-end project management experience or overall project leadership experience.
  • 12+ years in leading and managing effective teams.
  • Experience leading individual projects as well as multi project programs.
  • Experience in Project Management tools. Project Insight preferred, but other project tools like Jira and Microsoft Project are acceptable.
  • Resource Capacity Planning.
  • Effective team-building expertise.
  • Experience leading people (direct and indirect reports).
  • Able to facilitate and/or make critical project decisions.
  • Ability to lead and drive results with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to advise, communicate, and collaborate with Executive Leadership.
  • Creative problem-solver.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Experience in a matrixed organization and ability to work with and communicate with individuals at different levels of the company.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Supervisor and Leadership Expectations

Required, managing 4 to 5 direct reports as well as coordinating project tasks with the extended project team of 100 resources.

Travel Requirements: 40% of travel, regional, some international.
