Position Summary

The Reviewing Medical Officer (RMO) is responsible for reviewing, interpreting, and approving clinical documentation provided by other licensed clinicians prior to release.

Core Responsibilities

  • Clinical reports provided to the RMO will include psychological assessments of federal employees, federal contractors, and non-employee family members who are, were, or desire to be deployed to high-risk occupations for which psychological screening is required.
  • The RMO must possess the knowledge, skills, and experience to personally complete psychological exams for individuals in the populations defined.
  • The RMO must possess the capability to understand and quickly assess the recommendations of others prior to approving, disapproving, or revising these recommendations for release to the high-risk client employers.
  • The RMO must have the ability to understand, develop, interpret, and revise written guidelines for each psychological examination type and to provide training to other clinicians when education or revisions are required.
  • The RMO may designate contracted staff members to serve on a Final Disposition Review Team when determined appropriate by the RMO or Medical Director.
  • The RMO will also review field clinician medical reports upon their request and prior to official submission.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • The RMO shall be a licensed Clinical Psychologist in the continental United States, Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico, and/or US Virgin Islands.
  • 5+ years experience in a Medical Review role
  • PhD or PsyD – Psychology Degree
  • Ability to communicate in a positive/professional manner both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and complete tasks in the allotted time frame.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and decision-making skills required.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills required.
  • Strong editing/proofreading abilities are required.
