Job Summary

This position is responsible for leading and executing commercial responsibilities for growth of Carbon, Stainless Steel, and Aluminum sales specifically for the automotive market. Responsibilities to include but not limited to the development of customer proposals, both OEM and Tier accounts, growth in volume, product mix efficiency and margin evaluation within the automotive market segment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Strategic leadership of the automotive sales team; inside and outside contributors, to provide alignment towards reaching Company objectives in productivity, quality and volume while maintaining high departmental standards of customer service and product knowledge.
  • Develop and execute on strategy to grow market share, maximizing Revenue and Margin, all within the US Automotive space.
  • Developing sales pipeline to fill commitments with Aluminum Dynamics on campus facility and other aluminum mills for processing material for automotive directed buys.
  • Regular review of the automotive forecast and shipments ensuring that margin and volume expectations are met and as necessary develop and implement improvement initiatives.
  • Regular review of customer inventory levels with materials management and account managers to ensure control goals are met and investments protected. Resolving issues independently or collaboratively and if necessary, forcing intervention to resolve issues in violation of Company policy.
  • Assist in the purchasing of special customer inventory in accordance with established policies and procedures to optimize turnover and return on sales
  • Participating as an active member of the senior leadership in review of all areas of the segment’s operation to ensure Company policy procedure and financial objectives are met
  • Select, develop and motivate employees ensuring fair and consistent treatment within applicable laws, policies and EEO guidelines to maintain the continuity of a competent workforce
  • Establish, implement and monitor marketing plans and strategies to maintain and increase the center's share of the market through coordination with the marketing staff
  • Contact customers and potential customers to maintain/develop an effective business relationship and strategy
  • Develop, monitor and approve the sales and expense budget
  • Assist in the development of pricing and credit policies to maximize return on sales
  • Direct the preparation of sales reports and data to monitor the overall sales effort to ensure achievement of sales objectives; keep the executive management informed of progress, problems and trends; and make recommendations for improving revenue and gross margin


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • 7+ years of automotive experience and/or flat rolled processing
  • 5+ years supervisory experience preferred
  • Experience across multiple metals product lines is preferred, aluminum experience a plus

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proven track record of excellence in sales and knowledge of aluminum
  • Experience leading and motivating a sales team
