Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Process Engineer Intern to join our team at SHINE, a leading radioisotope manufacturer for the pharmaceutical industry. The intern will work closely with the Therapeutics Engineering and R&D Chemistry teams to support the optimization and improvement of liquid chromatography processes for pharmaceutical products. This internship provides valuable hands-on experience in a regulated industry, and the Process Engineer intern will have the opportunity to learn from industry experts while contributing to key process engineering initiatives.

Duties And Responsibilities

Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist in analyzing and improving in liquid chromatography processes, ensuring efficiency, safety, and compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Participate in data collection and analysis, including process parameters and yield analysis.
  • Support the design, testing, implementation, qualification, and validation of new processes.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams (Quality, Production, and R&D) to optimize product quality and manufacturing costs.
  • Help document process changes, improvement initiatives, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Assist in preparing technical reports and presentations on process-related projects.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Radiochemistry, Physics, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in process engineering and pharmaceutical manufacturing.
  • Good understanding of process flow diagrams, equipment design, and process control.
  • Familiarity with GMP, FDA regulations, and industry standards is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate clearly with team members and stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong desire to learn and contribute to the improvement of manufacturing processes.

Eligibility for employment is conditioned on the applicant’s ability to qualify for access to information subject to U.S. Export Controls. Additionally, applicant’s eligibility may be conditioned based upon meeting the Nuclear Regulatory Commission requirements for access to Safeguards Information, which typically requires a pre-employment drug screen, fingerprinting and criminal background check.
