Summary: Under the supervision of the FVP-Business Banking the Loan Administrator and Compliance Analyst is responsible for all aspects of loan administration within the Business Banking department. This role will maintain the highest levels of accuracy and compliance with all bank regulations, policies and procedures. The role will also provide administrative support to the business banking lenders and customers. The position is responsible for ensuring dependable, efficient and compliant loan processing, providing customer service and assisting in problem resolutions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned

  • Responsible for operational excellence and regulatory compliance as it relates to business loan processing. Works collaboratively with the Business Banking staff to ensure efficient and optimal workflow as well as adherence to regulatory requirements.
    • This includes all aspects of business lending including loan onboarding, processing, servicing, support, documentation and compliance.
  • Recommends and implements enhancements to Business Banking workflow.
  • Performs, or assists administrative staff or department officers, in the resolution of the more difficult departmental problems which may include interfacing with bank customers, bank attorneys and examiners.
  • Respond to customer inquiries: answer questions, solve problems and direct customers to a Lender for in-depth information related to borrowing. Works with managers to resolve complex or sensitive issues.
  • Provide advanced administrative and operational support within the department
  • Executes quality control processes and measurements to ensure accurate loan origination documentation, processing and maintenance.
  • Prepare and review legal documents that are necessary for the processing of loans closed by Lenders in the Business Banking Department.
  • May execute SBA Administrator functions for all SBA 7a loans to ensure compliance with program and bank guidelines
  • Order appraisals, environmental due diligence, and other related reports as needed
  • Prepare necessary notices to borrowers including adverse action notices
  • Responsible for the continuous examination and recommendation of business banking loan administration procedures and processes with the intention of increasing efficiencies, reducing errors and optimizing workflow.
  • Assist with reconciling the Business Banking suspense accounts monthly to the general ledgers. Research and rectify any discrepancies.
  • Responsibilities include proficient knowledge of loan origination systems, core transaction processing applications, and other current and future software used to support business banking lending.
  • Process daily transactions including but not limited to account transfers, loan payments, line of credit draws, construction advances, etc.
  • Maintains changes in policies, procedures and processes related to loan administration to ensure ongoing compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Ability to identify errors and omissions within loan documentation and processing with a heightened understanding of the potential legal and regulatory implications.
  • Reviews periodic validation of regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Responsible for collecting and validating CRA, HMDA, and other compliance reporting information in the loan origination system.
  • Carries out a quality control review of required compliance audit factors including but not limited to flood coverage prior to closing.
  • May assume responsibility of some department reporting requirements in conjunction with FVP Business Banking and Data Management staff.
  • Complete all yearly compliance training and testing and comply with bank, federal, and state regulations. Comply with Bank Policies and Procedures. Adhere to departmental and bank-wide service standards.

Education And/or Experience

Generally, requires a two-year or four-year degree; or certification in a specialized field; plus, up to three to five years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills Needed

  • Experience specializing in business banking or commercial loan originations.
  • Knowledge of Compliance laws, rules, regulations, risks related to Business Banking originations including CRA, HMDA, and other regulations as applicable.

Certifications, Licenses and/or registrations: N/A

Computer Skills

  • Experience with Lenders Cooperative, LoanVantage and LaserPro preferred
  • Advanced computer skills including all MS Office applications with specific emphasis on Excel, Word, Access and T-Value
