Founded in 2012, Portland Thorns FC have set the standard for fan support and on-field success in women’s soccer since its inaugural 2013 season. One of the world’s most supported women’s soccer clubs, Portland has led the league in attendance for eight seasons and set a new club playoff attendance record last year with 25,218 fans supporting Thorns FC in the 2023 semifinal match at Providence Park. Thorns FC have won the NWSL Championship a league-record three times (2013, 2017, 2022) and finished as runners-up in 2018. The club has made the postseason a league-high nine times and has won the NWSL Shield in 2016 and 2021.

The Role

Portland Thorns FC is seeking a talented Producer/Project Manager to join our creative team. Reporting to the Art Director, you will be responsible for developing marketing processes, project schedules, timelines, deliverable estimates, maintaining workflow records, securing feedback/approvals and the production of video and photo shoots (i.e. Thorns Media Day, Jersey Launch etc.). The position requires someone who is collaborative and acts as the liaison to cross-functional teams. Our ideal candidate is detail-oriented, can think on their feet, and operate swiftly in a fast-paced environment.

What You’ll Be Up To

  • Oversee projects from inception to completion, including budgeting, pre and post production and asset delivery.
  • Communicate effectively with Brand and Creative team members and project teams, providing updates on project status.
  • Develop marketing and creative processes to ensure timely delivery of marketing requests.
  • Receive and log project requests, tracking their status, and briefing/managing the appropriate stakeholders to deliver work in a timely fashion.
  • Collaborate closely with cross functional stakeholders and the marketing/creative team to balance workloads, establish timelines, scopes of work and clear deliverables.
  • Collaborate with cross functional stakeholders to ensure creative best practices and procedures are being met.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with cross functional stakeholders to refine requests into clear deliverables.
  • Assist in delivering video files and footage to internal and external partners.
  • Prioritize workload and track projects to meet timelines.
  • Archive completed projects and proofs for future reference.
  • Manage vendor relationships and budgets for production/project needs.
  • Engages in multiple projects simultaneously, while efficiently adhering to budgets and delivery schedules.
  • Facilitates effective communications between departments (marketing, partnerships, creative, Comms, tickets, etc.) and with external parties (production vendors, etc.).

What It Takes To Be a Thorn

  • At least 5+ years’ experience in design field.
  • Experience in professional sports preferred.
  • Experience in content production.
  • Be able to make decisions in a fast-paced atmosphere.
  • Must have strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work and collaborate across multiple departments.
  • Ability to work various shifts including Thorns matches, evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Knowledge of graphics-related Macintosh software including Adobe Creative Suite preferred.
