LifeSouth Community Blood Centers is currently looking for a highly driven individual with outstanding leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to join the team as Vice President of Operations in Gainesville, FL.
This is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing and driving the operational effectiveness of the blood donation center set by executive leadership. In this position you will develop, implement, and lead strategic initiatives to enhance blood donations, blood processing, and blood distribution while ensuring operational efficiency and compliance with regulatory standards. This position is also responsible for maintaining optimal staffing ratios, overseeing training programs, and ensuring continuous operational growth and innovation.

- Develop and execute operational strategies aligned with the organization’s long-term objectives to grow blood donations, processing, and distribution.
- Coordinate efforts with District Management for a strategic approach to operations.
- Oversee the blood processing within each operation to ensure compliance with industry standards and organizational goals.
- Coordinate blood distribution to hospitals and medical facilities, ensuring timely delivery and ensuring the highest level of customer satisfaction.
- Oversee staffing levels to ensure appropriate ratios in blood collection, processing, and distribution areas.
- Develop and implement continuous training initiatives to ensure employees meet regulatory requirements and stay up-to-date on best practices in blood donation, processing and distribution.
- Oversee annual planning for meeting assigned collection and production goals for each district.
- Identify the need to develop special recruitment plans across the region to increase blood collections; assist with development of such plans and communicate plans with appropriate teams.
- Provide leadership and direction to District and Regional leadership, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
- Assist with media activities, press releases, and donations through public speaking, education programs, and personal contacts.
- Provide the highest level of customer service to internal and external customers.
- Be always on-call, except when on approved leave (PTO).
- This position may work varied hours, including nights and weekends.
- Ability and willingness to travel is essential to this position.
- Must have consistent and reliable transportation.
- Attendance is a requirement of this position.
- Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare administration, or a related field is required
- Minimum ten (10) years of progressive leadership experience in operations management, with at least five (5) years in a senior management role is required
- Proficient in all staffing and management software functions
- Knowledge of modern principles and practices of administration and organization, including general budgeting, accounting, personnel techniques, and management principles and practices
- Ability to manage budgets, resources, and staff to meet operational objectives
- Ability to implement strategic initiatives that drive operational growth and improve performance
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage cross-functional teams
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions
- Valid driver’s license required; must meet and maintain LifeSouth driver’s eligibility requirements
- Experience in healthcare, blood donation, or a related field is preferred
