Job Summary:
- The Mainframe Systems Programmer will be responsible for maintaining, monitoring, and optimizing the Wyoming Department of Transportation's RIS driver services program.
- This role requires extensive experience in mainframe system programming, problem resolution, and third-party software integration.
- The Systems Programmer will work closely with the ADABAS Database Administrator to ensure seamless operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, maintain, and support Z/OS operating systems and associated components.
- Analyze, develop, modify, and debug vendor-supplied utilities and software packages.
- Diagnose, isolate, and resolve complex software and system issues.
- Monitor system performance and capacity, implementing necessary optimizations.
- Plan and execute disaster recovery procedures, ensuring business continuity.
- Provide Tier 2 technical support for mainframe environments.
- Maintain, operate, and troubleshoot BMC Control-M scheduler software.
- Manage and integrate third-party software solutions, including VTAM-SWITCH and other ISV software.
- Collaborate with the ADABAS Database Administrator and other IT staff to ensure system reliability and efficiency.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Mainframe Systems Programmer.
- Extensive knowledge of Z/OS operating system, system utilities, and debugging tools.
- Experience with BMC Control-M job scheduler software.
- Strong understanding of disaster recovery planning and implementation.
- Familiarity with third-party mainframe software such as VTAM-SWITCH.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Must pass background checks compatible with Wyoming DCI requirements.
