Position Purpose and Objectives

Acts and performs duties of Title Specialist for Fairlease. This position has constant interaction with staff and members and therefore, must have strong customer service skills. Responsible for maintaining and completing all title documents and reports pertaining to department including, but not limited to, preparing paperwork for perfecting liens, auditing lease titles to ensure accuracy, and completing necessary contractual documents in order to ensure a smooth transaction for FairLease, member, and dealer. The Title Specialist answers telephone calls, works with staff and members in office regarding title issues, and helps in other areas within the department as necessary. The right candidate must be familiar with a variety of the auto industries concepts, practices, and procedures.

Major Duties And Essential Functions

  • Prepares and processors titlework for leases on new and used vehicles when out of state MCOs or titles received from dealerships.
  • Provides information to lease staff regarding out of state titling information such as fees and title paperwork to be completed.
  • Audits titles as they are received and updates system’s title comment section.
  • Prepares tax receipts/whiteslips for scanning on pending titles as received.
  • Prepares releases of lien and or duplicate title forms for lost titles.
  • Releases liens on titles and mails to member at lease termination.
  • Assists staff by pulling titles when current leases/loans are used as trades or if members have paid off with certified funds.
  • Processes and maintains title report.
  • Works with dealerships on getting incorrect titles corrected.
  • Processes Floor Plan titles as they are termed. Assigns these titles to wholesalers/dealer that purchase the vehicles.
  • Maintains lease files where trade payoffs are sent to financial institutions until the titles are received.
  • Transports titlework to local tax office when needed.
  • Provides Operations Supervisor with miscellaneous tasks when needed.

  • Must have strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Must feel comfortable relating to individuals on every level including senior executive level.
  • Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel and common database applications.
  • Good decision making abilities..
  • Must be organized, a self-started, and have a keen attention to detail.

Education: High school graduate, G.E.D., or equivalent required.

Experience: One to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
