Supply Chain Logistics Lead

Summary: Under the general supervision of Brown University Health Supply Chain Logistics Managers, the Supply Chain Logistics Lead coordinates activities and functions of the Supply Chain Procedural Distribution and Central Supply Technicians throughout Brown University Health. This role involves orienting, training, assigning work, maintaining work schedules, and evaluating performance of staff following established policies, procedures, and standards of practice.
Responsibilities:
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for high-quality employee training directly and through delegation and shadowing other employees.
- Manages inventory of supplies in the department; monitors usage trends, maintains par forms, and assists with recalls, backorders, and substitute products.
- Collaborates with Supply Chain Procurement and/or suppliers to coordinate delivery of supplies and equipment.
- Coordinates priority and/or special-order requests for supplies and equipment as needed.
- Runs and works various daily and periodic reports. Prepares and maintains records, files, and requisitions.
- Assists employees with prioritization and problem resolution as issues occur, such as authorizing urgent requisitions and accommodating emergency or priority requests.
- Initiates structured par level and inventory management activities on an at least semi-annual basis for all assigned supply areas.
- Participates in the recruitment, retention, performance enhancement, and competency assessment of staff in collaboration with Supply Chain Logistics Manager.
- Ensures compliance to established standards, policies, and procedures, providing actionable feedback to promote effective teamwork and satisfaction in the workplace.
- Documents and addresses employee concerns related to work performance and attendance. Serious issues are forwarded to a Supply Chain Logistics Manager for assessment and formal discipline.
- Regularly performs duties of employees to assist with workloads.
- Responsible for technical policy and procedure and communication training for assigned areas.
- Participates in yearly audit and inventory.
Basic Knowledge:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required and a minimum of 4 years of experience in a related healthcare or warehouse field.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology, aseptic techniques, and inventory management.
- A high level of interpersonal skills to effectively represent Brown University Health and Supply Chain in interaction with all levels of personnel within and outside the organization.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office tools and ability to learn necessary supporting information systems.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
- Sits, stands, and walks intermittently throughout the day. Must have the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and push and/or pull moderately heavy supplies, materials, and equipment.
- Some exposure to outside elements possible and some heat and cold discomfort.
- Exposure to contaminated items, strong detergents, and antiseptic solutions.
- Potential hazards minimized by adherence to safety procedures and the use of protective clothing and equipment as directed by department.
